Thats it!!
Try backing the timing all the way back, and drive it. Tell me what happens.

This adjustment is there for just this reason.

Also-I might add this
the tuning assumes the truck is in optimal condition. There is a slight chance of these symptoms if the fuel filter was old and "clogged" or if the fuel injectors were "dirty".
Annnnd,
Carbon buildup can increase compression in our v8 engines to the point of causing this.
I'm not trying to confuse you-but I do need to throw this out there.

Understood.

Alright, so I should mess with the Spark 0-2000, 2000-3000, 3000-4000 option?

I don't have to be at WOT to create the pinging issue with the tune.

Any cleaner I could use to clean the injectors and carbon? I recently, like a week ago put fuel cleaner in...

Most pre-ignition will occur at part throttle, cruising on an incline, or else at WOT.

Those sound about right.

So when I go into each of these categories, I'm going to see a number.. and if I lower it one number, I do it to all of them? How far until I stop? And does it save these changes to my tune file.. or does it revert the tune back to its original setting if I go back to stock and tune again?

Don is correct-
What I would do is back them all down, and then bump them back up individually until you hear the pinging, then back that one down again.
You'll do this all over again when you get GOOD gas-from a name brand station.
Your days of quicky mart premium are over.

Nothing is saved or lost-
it is merely adjusted.
no worries.
Don't mess with the fuel stuff yet, just retard the spark advance.

Would another way to play it safe be, using all the gas with the stock tune until it's near empty.. then filling up? and if the issue is still there.. Then mess with timing?

No Not really
I'd retard the timing, see what happens.

This is a good chance to learn to use the box, and the changes it will make for you-

Someone said I could blow my engine up if I went too low..............................

You are not going to blow anything up by retarding your timing 4 degrees.

Now-if you were to advance it another 4 degrees, yeah, maybe . But you aren't going to do that are you?

Alright.. I'm going to mess with the timing and datalog.

I put the thing on 2000-4000, and 4000-8000 or whatever it is.. -1 Degree and it solved the pinging, so when I start getting my tank completely full of "Premium" I can put it back?

Also, what % is safe to make the WOT Air/Fuel Ratio thing?

I noticed in those custom options, all the settings at default were 0 .. does that mean they're just at what is custom tuned? or uhh.. they're zero and I'm pretty much running the stock tune with -1 degree on those spark advances?

0 would be the "tune" default, you are adjusting the tune for lack of better terms.

I'd leave the fuel ratios alone until you get known good fuel. You'll need to run your truck until you see the "check gage" light, then fill up.

Is that our "Low Fuel" Warning? lol

I didn't even think we had one.

I put the Spark Advance down one from 2000k-4000k, 4000k-8000k rpm and it went away.
This tune definitely made a difference, shifts are a lot more firm and responsive, acceleration is improved greatly.. even with my 31" tires.
Once I'm sure the tank is completely full of 90 octane, I'll put the timing back to the tune's default.
Everyone should get a SCT Tuner!!

I think I'm going to be getting fuel from Chevron only from now on, they have pretty good fuel IMO, good cleaners.

James sent me a new tune, but didn't say what he changed.. he just said it'll stop the pinging.. what do ya think he changed?
Which tune should I use when I get my tank Completely full of 90?

If James sent you a new tune then run it. Stop second guessing everybody.
