I used it a few days ago, no problems at all, actually got rid of the pinging I had. Use the search function on this site to search for Seafoam. Pretty easy to do, even easier if you have another person to give it gas while your doing it.
I just want to add to say that I never got smoke, but when I removed my intake I also discovered that I didn't do a very good job. Stopped the shuttering in my engine though. Also managed to do it by myself, but when it stalled out it had me worried.
Used to use diesel fuel for the same purpose. Pour slowly a quart down through the carb or throttle body while keeping the throttle up. Smokes like Uncle Buck's old beater, or much worse. It'd be good to do it in the woods during mosquito or blackfly season
While on a road trip, used to add a gallon of diesel to the gas tank (making it a full tank) for further internal cleaning. The difference was notable, especially if the valves had been sticky prior to the treatment.

I noticed a TON of white smoke, and the engine totally perked up. Rough idle which used to shake my entire truck absolutely disappeared. Some people have run two cans through, after not noticing any change from the first.....
