Has any one out there changed the heating element a heated seat? IF so was it had to do?

I'll bet you could do it in 4 hours. I put heaters in my 1st gen seats in about 4 hours each total time.

They replace the factory 'Hogs Rings'. One you get them off, you'll never want to see another one. They have very shark ends

Yeah I have done a few seat covers in my time thanks to side impact air bags. And I have the scars to prove it from those damn rings. Never thought about swapping them for zip ties though. Good idea.

No, the heaters come with some double stick material to hold them to the foam.

You cut out small circles where the hogs rings were and insert the zip ties.

The zip ties attach the surface material ( in my case the leather) to the foam. There are bars moulded into the foam and bars sewn into the seat cover. The zip ties bind them together. That's how the seams get 'tucked in' so to speak. The power leads route out the back

There is an element for the seat and for the back in the kit. I didn't buy the Rostra kit, I bought something else but I'm not where I can find the name.

I've been wanting to add heated seats too. If my ex didn't come with them, is there an extra connection down there I could just plug into if I swapped out seats from an ex that came with them? Or should I just order a couple of kits from rostra? Basically just trying to find out what's the easiest (cheapest).

It is easy to run the wiring under the carpet since you will have the seats out already. There will be wiring for weight sensors (air bags) and seatbelt alarms.

Rostra's are expensive. Those other 2 links are probably the best price. You might get a discount when you buy 2.

I don't know if any Gen II X's had heated seats as an option, doubtful though.

I ran a 30 amp fused power lead from the battery to a relay which is activated by 'key on' accessory. It feeds a new 6 circuit fuse block for the seats and some extra 12 volt outlets for the back seat and way back by the hatch and my winch relay.

I love my heated seats. I had them in my '99 Limited and I got them in my '03 Supercrew Lariat too. But when I installed my remote starter in my '03, I hooked up the seats to an aux. output so I can turn them on when I start my truck.

I've got those seat heaters on a AUX channel for the remote start.
They come on like they should but I've got one little problem....
It seems that they don't warm up the leather until I sit in it for a while. Is there a toosh sensor that prevents the element from heating when there is no toosh present?

Mine do have a pressure sensor.

Mine do turn on but they don't get hot till I sit on the seat. I do notice a difference if I don't turn them on.

I'm going to look for that pressure sensor and decide if I want to bypass it for the drivers seat.

I take it that 1 kit does 1 seat, right? So I have to buy 2 kits to do both front seats?
