I recently took my truck(1994 Ford Explorer 4 x 4)for a new brake line and found out my front, driver wheel is shaking when mounted(rocking it top to bottom, not left to right). You can rock it back and forth. When I drive, as I speed up I can feel it shaking. One mechanic said it was the ball joint. One things its the inner and outter bearings. One thinks it may be the sway bar. We took the wheel off and the ball joint looks fairly newer than the passenger side. What do you think it is? Any advice is appreciated!

i just had the same problem on my 92 and the passanger side was the upper and lower ball joints and the driver side was just the bearing needed to be tightened. I kept having a problem with the bearing nut on the warn manual hubs backing off just enough to alow play. finally got that tightened the right way and havent had any problems since

If you can grab the tire and move it up/down but not left right, its the ball joint..

If it went left/right and up/down then its more likely bearings..

If its left/right only its more likely tie rods.
