Short Throw Shifter

It is from a Ranger, but it will also work on the Explorer with no modifications due to them having the same tranny.

I got mine Installed today.....all I can say is this...........AWESOME!

My stock shifter had a few broken washers/bushings on the 'ball', and the 2 posts on the sides were bent to heck.....

Installed the Shifter without major hitches......and I love the positive click I get when engaging each gear. I used the supplied 1/4" spacer, and my shifts are close and precise.....EXACTLY how I like it.

AWESOME!

Installed mine fairly quickly about a week ago. Definitely worth the $$$!

In Neutral, the shifter handle is in the EXACT same position as the stock handle. Only difference is the shift into first gear is a little less to the left, and a little less forward.......all shifts are a little shorter in all directions. If that makes any sense to you.......

Could someone with a 2nd gen with the Hurst shifter do me a favor? Could someone measure from the face of the ash tray with it closed to the back of the sift lever about 2" above the bend with the shifter in 3rd gear?

Thanks

Under the inner boot is the same as factory. The section you see, bolt directly to the top of the tranny the same was as the factory shift. Just uses longer bolts.

i am confused, on the top of the hurst shifter there are 4 bolts but on my stock shifter there are only three, i am planning on getting one to replace my sloppy stock shifter

edit:
found out that the 4 bolts on the top of the hurst shifter just go into the hurst part, under that there are only three that go into the trans

so if i have the 5 speed in my x i can buy this shifter that goes to a ranger that has the same tranny as i do right and i am just checking before i buy one

yep, got one in my truck

ok sweet i rarely go 4x4ing with my x so i want something to make it look good and shift better than the stock one

i love it for offloading, it makes downshifting while finding yourself on a steep hill very easy

sweet i try to go offroading but i barely have time for it but i love getting my x dirty though

That looks great man, ive never personally used a short throw but I can only imagine :D

Makes me wish my explorer was a 5 speed :D

I have a 2003 sport with a stock 5 spd will this shifter work on mine?

Thanks for the reply! Everyone that sells the shifter says it wasn't tested on the Explorer and could not give me any info. if it would work. Since you have an 03 Sport could I get a lead on finding some step bars for the 2 door that are any good! Seems they are hard to find! Thanks!!

I wouldent look for them but for a elderly parent who has a hard time getting in.
