yea im eventually gonna get to that tire carrier. Right now i have some other stuff to focus on though.. first i need to modd those fenders so they look better. Some work to do with the caps and places that i used a dremel on my truck need to be cleaned up.

And chris (Lizardtrac) has a nice little design worked up for me to help "incorporate" those fenders into the truck more so they dont look like ive been in an accident... you'll have to wait for pics to see what that is though :bounce:

This past friday i hydrolocked my engine

Spent a long time saturday but got it running again. Had a wheeling trip Sunday to make and since i didnt want to hydrolock my engine for a THIRD time (thats right, this is the second time!) i built a little sumthin.. so check out the first post to see what im talking about ;)

BTW: Trucks idling really high and tranny's doing some funky stuff, along with an air/fuel check engine like. So tomorrow at work ill be ording a tranny kit, new IAC, and some other things to get my truck back to 100% again. But it wheeled like crazy today!

SICK! What size spare is mounted under the rear there?

Thats the stock 255/70/16 (?) tire. I have OBA and patches in my car so if i get a flat hopefully that can get me where i need to go. The stock tire is like if i have a blow-out (in which case i may be more worried about how to get outta my car upside-down

All I can say is.....HUGE!!!!!!!

So how about this... the day i was working on my truck at the shop the guys kept F'ing with me and unplugging sensors. My boss was eventually like "will you f'ers plug everything back in so we can see if this starts up" (he wanted to leave but wanted to see my truck running first). Well it started up nicely but i had those symptoms listed above. Thought my engine and tranny was crap so needless to say i wheeled the piss outta it that weekend...

went to work monday and i had 6 codes in the computer. after lookin at the codes my boss goes "did they plug your TPS back in".. turned out they pretended to plug it in, but it in the slot but never clicked it in.

well 2 hydrolocks/145K miles/ and $100 for tranny flush later and my truck is still running like a champ!

wait your engines done?

what happened to it?

and how much is the jasper replacement

thanks alot matt
take it easy

Subscribing to see the Jasper :D Is this a 4.0 also?

yup, engines done. piston rod snapped and knocked a few holes in my engine.

and im replacing it with another 4.0 SOHC.

Engine costs me :
$2800 for engine/installation kit
roughly $100 so far in other parts

I still need to buy a harmonic balancer, a new torque converter bolt, and some sleeves that sit in the heads for the fuel injectors to slide into.

I put the new engine in yesterday but there still a lot to do before running it.

Anyone who's planning on putting a Jasper in for their SOHC.. the fuel injectors dont fit into the heads- you'll need to order adapters from Ford. Hopefully those will be in tomorrow along with a new harmonic balancer and a torque converter nut. If all that's at the shop before we close tomorrow, i plan on driving my truck home tomorrow night.

Well, time to hit the sack- hopefully ill have some good news 24 hours from now.. i want my truck back :(

good luck and keep usd posted and I hope by now you have the truck back on the road as it's like the 15h of october.
but i know how these prodjects go, you might not

hey thanks man.

I had my truck back on the street probably exactly 2 weeks (down to the hour) of when it blew up... due to school and needing to order those parts.

It's running great- however ill know sunday if im tearing it back out. It's making a horrible tapping sound after it heats up. I started a thread lookin for insight but no1 has any suggestions (cause i ruled out all the easy stuff). So sunday ill be over my neighbors so he can decide if we should call japser or not (he's the one that deals with them).

Other than the tapping- the things peppy as hell and runs smooth/quiet compared to my old one ... lol i wonder why

Just stumbled upon your thread here searching for fiberglass fenders.

How do you like the Perrys?

How well has the black gel coat held up?

Any issues with the 35" rubbing at all?

I understand the drilling part on them, but the pinch fold is what I am having trouble wrapping my head around as far as what to do with it. Any tips?

Like the rig!

wooooooooooooooooowwwww. Most random email of the year, a post in a thread that I haven't seen in 6 years

Well... to answer your questions.

I liked the fenders A LOT. They were a bit of a PITA to line up but it all worked out.

I used a BFH to bend the pinch weld inwards so the firewall was "flat".

Didn't have any issues with the 35s rubbing up front... but as you'll see in the video below, I had to do some more trimming to the rear flares. This was my "test run" after installing the 35s to see what would rub:

PS: Thanks for reminding me how much i miss my explorer :(
