The C3/C4/C5 transmissions do not have a changeable bellhousing, so it is either a Cologne V6 pattern or it is not, no swapping them around.

This isn't correct, those transmissions have removable bellhousings. The C5 has a lockup torque converter, C4 doesn't. The C3 is a weak transmission that was never offered behind a V8. A bellhousing from a A4LD or 5R55E fits the C3.
