Snow clearing with the Aerostar.

So I just purchased my first Aerostar. 93 XL with the 4.0. Plan on putting a SnowSport plow on the front. For those of you that aren't familiar with those they are a lightweight 75# straight blade with a thick rubber bottom that just floats on the ground. No electronics or mechanical wiring of any kind. Gravity does the work. So nothing to service or nothing that can break. Took the back seats out and load a mid sized Ariens snowblower and a smaller single stag snow thrower, 4 different styles of shovels, couple bags of salt, change of clothes, my dog. All set to clear snow from 6 residentials and 3 apartment buildings. Hear they go through the snow pretty good. Plan on upgrading my tires to a set of new blizzaks.

My Aerostar definitely did not go through the snow well. Maybe yours is the 4WD version, or you installed traction-lock and put 750 pounds over the rear axle.

Do you have snow tires with small metal spikes? There's something for regular tires called Spikes-Spider: Easier, Better than Tire Chains - Winter Driving

Might be me but the straight blades weve used feel like they stress the trucks more than the V (or mayeb the V feels more even?) I cant quite describe the feelign with light use its not issue but when its heavy/slushy V ftw!

Flat plow pushes snow in front of the vehicle with no way for the snow to be pushed off to a side, so it continues to pile up in front of the vehicle.

With an angled plow you can push snow to the left or right, avoiding the
Buildup and controlling where you dump the snow

A vee plow allows both re locating to one side or the other and also to scoop and stack the snow. It also allows you to push through large piles without resistance as the snow is pushed off both sides of the plow

Once you go vee, straight blades are obsolete and “box pushers” that only push snow straight are great for very very light duty projects. Plowing is not only cleaning spaced for driving but also is about re locating snow and in some cases completely opening closed roads. Vee plow far superior in these situations. They make vee plows for small vehicles like utv, jeeps (or aerostars) as well as very heavy duty units used on full size

I love my vee plow, but I also use several plows in my fleet from 50”, 72” all the way to 9’-6”
