Some wax questions

I want a change from the regular old Turtle Wax, and I was thinking about the Meguiars (sp?) wax. What I want to know is to get the paste type or liquid type? I'm thinking paste, it has always seemed to do a better job. Thanks,

I use the Zymol wax.. works real well!! its just alittle expensive. i believe its paste.

Zaino!

Get some Zaino!! This is the best stuff I have ever used. It is not a wax but a synthetic polymer polish that lasts longer, is easier to use, protects better and shines better than any wax. Check it out at www.zainobros.com

A lot of those guys like Klasse, which is kind of along the same lines as Zaino. I have never tried it, but I'm sticking with Zaino.

Zaino, its the best I've tried them all. Meguires is giid, but its not nearly as easy to use or as effective as Zaino.

Well it sounds good, but the price doesnt. Maybe later this year after school starts up again I'll get me a real job so I can afford it, this yard-work job wont cut it. Meguiars is good isnt it? It jsut seems that the Turtle Wax doesnt hardly leave a shine anymore, and it only lasts for a short while.

Thats a good idea Gimp, I'll have to try it sometime. But as long as both of them are in good moods and not really busy, I can "bargain" with both of them I always hate to wash her van because its so much longer than the Explorer, and it takes forever to wax. Takes no time to wash and wax the X, he's lil bitty My cousin said the other day he could see which vehicle I catered to the most, seeing the Explorer clean and shiny, and the van all dusty But occasionally she can con me into washing it for her.

I use Nufinish (bright orange bottle), and it's worked well. I've tried the turtle, Meguiars and a couple of others, but I keep going back to Nufinish.

Ditto on the Zaino. Technically, it is not even a wax. Light years ahead of everything else, and I have used them. JK

I like the Meguiars #9 Hi Tech yellow wax. After hearing about the Zaino, I might give that a try.

My husband uses an acrylic wax on our explorer. He says that it lasts longer than normal wax. It takes us forever to wax that sucker! We don't want to do it that often.

Zaino is easier to use and far better [erfprming than ANY wax ptoduct I have ever seen.

The cost is small compared to the performance.

Well, I'm a weak person, but today we were out in town, and I was strolling around the auto section at Wal-Mart, and was checking out the waxes. Happened upon a bottle of Nufinish, and I grabbed it and ran! Ran to the register to pay for it I checked out the Meguiars and all the others, but I saw JDrapers post on Nufinish so I figured I'd give it a try. A bottle was only $5, so if it doesnt work its no big loss. I guess the only reason the others were a bit more expensive was because they all had the flashy bottles. I also picked up some Armorall interior cleaner, the inside coud really use it. I''' probably apply it after the 4th, the X is going on a cmaping trip Monday I think, but I wont be along this time, so no pics I was going to get a Cali. water blade, but the Sullivan W-mart didnt have any!! Next time we're in Terre Haute I'll get one. I'll report back on how the Nufinish does sometime next week.

Hi Grant-I've been using Mothers three step wax system. Initial is a prewax cleaner. You do this once every six months or so. Takes off old wax build up and oxyidation. Second is a glaze-sealer. This removes swirls and small scratches. Last is pure carnuba(sp?)wax. Now let me tell you that my '91 has over 160K and still has the original factory red paint. If it were not for the parking lot battle scars, my '91 would look as good as the day I drove it off the lot on August of 1990. Hope this helps you.

ok89-you know those surprise dents you find after returning to your car at the mall. Some inconsiderate person who doesn't appreciate the fact that you really take care of your car. I remember being in a parking lot before a concert and this person gets out and dents my door while I was still in the car. No sorry or anything from the guy. He just didn't give a-you know.

I saw the Mothers wax there, but I havent really heard anything about it. If the NuFinish doesnt do the trick, I'll try the Mothers, and if THAT don't work, I'll get some Zaino.


Also, while we were there, I got some Armorall Carpet & Upholstery cleaner. I figured it wouldnt work very well since I never have very good luck with any of those types of products, but I decided to give it a try. It works! And really good too! I highly recommend it. There was some grease spots on the drivers floormat, I sprayed some on there, let it soak in, and wiped it off, and the mat couldnt look better. And on the liftgate and wheelwells were some black marks, sprayed them, let it soak a bit, and wiped it off, gone.

Mike and Gimp, thank you for the Autopia links, I found some useful info on there. The general opinion was that it was a great bang for the buck, and made a good shine that lasted, but a little abrasive. We'll have to see. I'll try to get some pics if I can. Thanks,

Hey Grant-I tried the Armoral Carpet Cleaner too. I'll back your finding with a thumbs up as well for this product. Good call! as for Mothers, I first saw Mothers wax products on a television show which covered auto show detailing so I figured I would give it a try. I've been happy with it ever since. Your initial wax session will take time since three steps are required, but the reward is a mirror which will even let you see the color of your pants and shirt in reflection on your side panels. I hope you have the same results as I have.
