My 99 sport is squeaking nonstop and it driving me insane. It started about 2 weeks ago.I figured it was the ball joing since there is no grease fittings. So I pinched out a small hole in the boot just big enough to get the wd40 straw in and shot it full. That didnt help a bit.So i pulled of both tires and hit every joint, shock absorber, and pivot that I could find.It did quiet it down some, but it still squeaks.Anyone have any clue what else it could be?God forbid I get on a rough road,it squeaks like somethings about to fall off the steering or suspension.

There are some many areas under the car and fender well that can squeak. Things like body mounts, shock mounts, and the list goes on. Pretty much any connection between 2 parts with a bolt/nut. You may be able to temporarily get rid of some noises by pressure washing the fender well and undercarriage.

where the torsion bars go into front frame...spray that. it HELPED mine but is def ball joints on mine

i just typed this in another similar post.... mine is not a sport, but the same principle applies:

my most annoying squeak were the leaf springs. I first power washed the whole suspensión, rode it a bit, then more washing, waitd for it to dry,

hitted all the suspensión rubber parts with silicon or teflon lube first to protect the plastics from environment and oils and to displace the water that could still be there,

then used some regular transmision oil in metal to metal (got some between leafsprings with a sirynge, and certain pins, then used spray on lithium grease in every moving part, bushing, got some in between the leafsprings to sort of "seal the oil" in there and weather proof it a bit,

also i used the silicon lube in top and in the sides of every body mount (helped to eliminate the squeaks and cracks when the body flexes like in ramps or diagonal bumps, etc),

lubed and tighten the spare tire winch, and after that... took it for a ride, tried to brake suddenly, sharp turned, bounced it around a bit, to get the lube all over the suspensión.

After this, i only needed to add a bit of lube to the mmmmm front leafsprings shackels?? mounts?? whatever.... and i do this like every 3 to 4 months, and keeps the x completely silent, it´s great to feel that new car clickity, crackly, squeaky free feeling. Also you could get an undecarriage wash and a normal lube in certain carwash places, and it also works, but they tend to use old oil mixed up with diesel to spray everything, and while it also protects you from rust and stuff, the agressive chemicals also dry up your rubber parts.

to locate an specific problem, have someone bounce down the truck, while you are under it, and touch mobile parts, you will "feel" the squeak.

This works great for me, but i´m not a continuous off road kind of guy, maybe if i did i would havve to do this more often. hope this helps.

i tried the bouncing the car thing. sounds like my entire front suspension'

I need an alignment after ball joints. I think there is a lot of torque on the frame

i also cleaned and lubed frownt sway bar bushings and A arms mounts and torsion bar adjusters and front mount (the hex shaped part where it inserts in the front.)... i had an orchestra of sounds from the front susp. too and this did the trick, but yeah... you´ll need an slight alignment after balljoints.

Just an update since I posted this about 5 months ago.The squeaking got terrible.Every turn of the steering wheel, every bump, even when the road was flat the squeaking was nonstop. But I changed the upper and lower ball joints on both sides and now it is quiet as a church mouse. No more looks and laughs, just smiles as I quietly take a turn.

Hi. I had the same problem. Mine started squeaking like a cheap hotel bed a week ago. Really loud. The temp outside was in the 20's, so I think the combination of the metal parts contracting, and the rubber hardening were the cause. First thing I did was purchase 4 cans of Liquid Wrench Silicone spray, (not WD, could dry it out), took off the wheels and sprayed ALL THINGS RUBBER. Upper and lower ball joints, tie rod connections, sway bar connections, etc. Used ALOT, both to blow out the dirt in the crevices, and to lubricate. After each round of spraying I lowered the car, bounced it and turned the wheels like crazy to work in the silicone. Did this procedure 3 times. Also made sure to drive the car on the worst roads I could find for more bouncing. Squeak is TOTALLY gone for now, but I plan on greasing it with a gun if it starts again. Hope this helps.

I'm actually having the same issue, drivers side. Right as the cold weather started - figures. I might have to do the same thing with the silicone spray.

So I pinched out a small hole in the boot just big enough to get the wd40 straw in and shot it full.

Whilst you have now sorted the squeak you may now have a ticking time bomb here unless you do some remedial work. The WD will have/be breaking down the moly inside the boot and the boot now has a weakspot. I would suggest pulling the shaft and cleaning out the joint and renewing the grease and boot. A bit of time and a $10 part or a costly cv joint.

EDIT just noticed the date of the OP nevermind. he will have either found out the hard way or got lucky by now
