98 mounty
ok i just bought a 98 mounty awd 5.0. red with leather, I love this thing! but I know it can be improved. Well i plan on wheelin it, and since these torsion bars dont like to flex, i think im just goin to put a 3" body lift, and 33x12.5r15. Is there anything i can do to improve my front suspension travel that doesnt cost a arm and a leg?

since i want to put on 33's it will need more power. So i was thinking about adding a mac intake, bama tuner, tm headers, highflow cats, 3" single exhaust.

how does that sound?

Ifyour going with biggers tires - go with lower gears (4.10 or 4.56)

Get 4.10's, Torque Monster Headers, a BW4406 manual shift transfer case to get 4lo.

Skip the high flow cats, 3" exhaust and intake, your 5.0 wont have any low end torque if you get the TMH's. Instead, install a K&N panel filter in your stock air box, stick with the four stock cats and if you want more noise, put on a different muffler.

If you watch carefully on here a 4" superlift sometimes comes up used and cheap.

You can find links for the TMH's and BW4406 installs in my signature-

Some backpressure will give good low rpm torque

The TMH's flow so much better, an open exhaust will rob your torque more than you would expect. Torque is just what you need for off roading. Plus its illegal to remove them ;) :D

One other thing- you *may* be able to run 33's since you have the 3.73 gears. The V8 has more torque and power which can eliminate the need for a gear swap. I am running 32's (265/75 16's) on my 3.73's and its not bad at all.

Also, its gonna be risky slammin 33's under just a body lift. I have 3" BL, TT, AAL's, and shackles, and i had to trim to fit my 33's. I have also heard of people fitting 33's fine with just a BL, but just a fair warning! :)

If you do get the Torque Monster Headers, a BamaChips or comparable tuned programmer is a necessity. I'm also running the MAC intake and a 2.5" catback, and the stock tune is just awful below 3000 RPMs. Not much in the way of low-end. The premium gas "torque" tune definitely took care of that. :D

disconnect the front sway bar you get a few more inches form that up front.

I have 33's and a 3" body lift with 3.73 gears, it makes a great daily driver, but 4.10 gears would be better.
I also need a 1" torsion twist up front to clear 100%
