I try to crank my explorer and the engine turns over but wont run. I walk away. next day it fires right up. This has happened several times. It's annoying as I can't count on it to start every time.

Any ideas?

Crankshaft sensor creates the signal to generate a spark, sometimes these will go flaky. next time you have a no start try tapping it with the handle of a screwdriver.

Fuel pump relay, circuit of pump. Next time you have the "no start" listen for the fuel pump motor. You should hear it for 1-2 seconds after turning the key to on.

Thanks I appreciate it.

Also try starting in neutral rather than park.
