Hello,I recently swapped transmissions after my original transmission took a dump on me. I purchased a used transmission from a salvage yard. However the only one I could find was out of a 05 and it is awd and my explorer is 2wd. I got transfer case and all along with everything ti technically make mine an awd. Or can the old tail end of my stock transmission be attached to the back of the awd transmission and run like a stock 2wd? So here’s my issues and questions. The first question I have is do I need the ecu out of the donor vehicle? I did get it in case I do need to switch it with the transmission. I installed new transmission and transfer case but didn’t put the front differential and drive shaft in. I’m throwing codes for throttle buddy accuater and the wrench light lights up when I drive it. I must also say that when the truck is up in the air It accelerates in all gears. Then when I put it on the ground it will **** into reverse but when I give it gas it acts like it’s in nuetral. Can anyone help me figure this out? I have some friends that acted as though they were transmission specialists but one the work started it was nothing but me,crickets and a hell of a job in front of me. This is my first transmission that I’ve gotten this deep into. I’ve only been as far as fluid and filter changes in the past. I do build bobbers as a hobby but this transmission is completely different than a primary on a bike. Any and all help would greatly be appreciated. And for the record o don’t need any extra comments about how or what I messed up because I’m married and believe me fellows I’ve heard it several times a day since I took this on. Thanks in advance.

Ouch

What year is your truck?

The awd tailhousing cannot be installed without taking the entire transmission apart. When you build a transmission the output shaft is the first part to go in and the output shaft is different rwd vs awd

I would finish the awd conversion
If the check engine light is flashing you need to pull the trouble codes

Going from rwd to awd should not require a pcm change but you may need some more electronic parts to complete the awd conversion
