I'm interested in these as well. I too like the rear amber turn indicator. Does anyone have a description, or step-by-step write up on how to modify the connector plug of the stock tail lamp to fit this one?

You didn't hear this from me, but you could add a trailer harness which would add the blinker to the amber section; how you decide to adjust the red blinker is up to you ;)

Doesn't the 02-up Mountaineer have amber (or separate rear) turn signals? perhaps that wiring might work.

The brake light and turn signal are on the same wire, and connect to one of the filaments in the two-filament bulb. I'm thinking that new turn signal and brake wires will have to be run to the housing location. Brake wouldn't be too hard, probably by tapping into the hi-mount brake light. Turn signals might have to come from the front.

There's also the issue of the additional bulb sockets required, but that shouldn't be any more difficult to acquire than the housings themselves.

Here's a pic I stole from the Aussie forum:

yeah, those look pretty slick. i'd really like to add them to my truck, but as i was reading the previous threads it appears i would have to do some rewiring and minor modifications with the wiring. messing with the electrical system is not something i'm terribly comfortable with doing. i might have to give a friend a couple bucks to do that for me. hmm, now i have second thoughts on this...

I'd love to have those, the rewire would simple.

So would I but when I started gathering the inventory of parts needed (lamp housing, extra connectors, extra pigtails, etc), it was going to be over $300 so I abandoned the idea.

I'd figure a housing from an auto parts store, extra wires, taps... $10-$15, tops - plus the lights. How much were the lights?

So the lights are $100 a piece, the rest can be fabbed, cheap.

For the price of the light I'd go LED anyhow. I like these
