Yeah its got the A4ld, im 2.5 hours south of redding. Im not willing to get under it and pull the tranny though, id rather just get rid of the whole thing..FREE! Ran good and drove good when i brought it home

right on I understand....I am in the middle of thinking about pullin the A4ld out of my red explorer, then pulling the 5-sp out of my red parts explorer and doing the auto to manual swap, so that'll be enough tranny pullin to last me years....if you change your mind let me know, i dont care if you pulled the trans, and brought it to the local junk yard, just as long as its gone. the green one is the one im talkin bout heres the link

i just got a price of a rebuit, installed and free towing for 625...i'm doing it and it has a 1 year warranty...i might need some small interior parts and i would pay shipping...front door handles both sides and both drivers side window motors??? but if your not into parting i understand

that link i gave you is for what i was doing, parting it out, however both parts explorers are manual windows, manual locks.

Ill keep and eye out for you, the local junkyards have tons of 1st gen explorers in them lately. What color?

go to the back from pismo thread and look up white96X, he is the guy with the full on camburg set up i mentioned before but his is 5.0...there are some pics there...as for my tranny everyone else wanted 1500-1800...i hope my deal is a good one...when i get my X running you and i should run some local trails and fireroads to try our rigs out...

ive actually got a custom setup that is gonna be getting built. No more torsion bars for me, full coilovers and the works. Ive seen ryan's truck in person when i bought some shocks from him, its damn nice. I have yet to see it in action which im sure it performs very well. Camburg is some damn good quality product.

his truck does sound very nice. My build will be slow because of the prices of things and lack of funds for now lol. Within 4-5 months it will be done.

yeah, i wont start taking anything apart until i have all the parts done. Its still my DD so i cant have it down for to long. It will be a few months till all parts are either bought or made, and about 2k later lol.

i drove project X home to the shop from the tranny shop...they rebuilt my tranny for under 900 bucks in 2 days...the drive from the shop was a little interesting since the truck sat parked for about 2 months with 10 pounds of pressure in the tires...the tires started to shimmy pretty good at about 25mph...after the first 5 miles it started to settle down and by the time i got by my shop i was able to open it up and um, check the tranny...the front needs to be dialed in as the f.r. tire pulls...next i've got to work on getting it smogged and it does have a bit of header leak...smog first and reg. is already paid just waiting to get my tags, woo hoo...
now all you front end specialist looking for something to do, look me up, lmao..

look out boys, she's on the road, legal...got tags and everything...she passed smog with flying colors and i have done nothing at all to it...i actually went to the smog station to have them do a visual and a pre-test to see what i would have to start saving for...

i was concerned for the cats, the muffler, headers, exhaust cut off behind muffler, and since i didn't even change the plugs or wires and it still is running on 3 month old gas, and i was originally told it had a blown motor, i was shocked to say the least...after the visual and smog test it did have one problem...the gass cap was an autozone one and it failed...the smog shop just happened to sell me a better one for 10 bucks and i got my cert....then my ins. and my tags...gotta love AAA...

next, i will be working on why the connection to the 4x4 switch was disconnected at the dash and why it still don't lite up...the ac sounds good but only cool air at least, and it's definately got to see an alignment...any help i would appreciate, thanks

Maybe the rear was re-geared?

go on??? it definately has had some work on it but i believe it's been awhile...what should i look for as i have put the connection in and left it in...in hindsight i'm thinking it could be something as easy as the bulbs not working and they had it in 4x4 for a long time and it took the tranny???
