Well these guys are in California and it's called West Coast Mustang and they have another shop in that one called 4.0 liter Performance. They have everything you're gonna want and can answer any questions that you might have. I'm not sure if there is a website for them but I have a phone # (805) 925-8848. Hope this helps.

yo big check. you have some nice pics, but one suggestion. regarding picture 19 of 19, you should clean up that engine bay... them stray wires might get caught one day and screw up your entire engine. get yourself some wireties and tie them up and run them along the side of your X's frame so the heat doesnt do any damage. :fire:

its definetely a 4.0L ohv looking on the pictures and i think jdraper has a 93. i dont think there are many performance parts for sohc anyways, so hope its a ohv. most likely

Well...

Well it depends on what you want to do with the engine. If you have the gears I would run the biggest Comp Cam or get Camcraft to grind you one (maybe similar to the 303s in the 5.0 stangs). If you run a big cam you can up the compression with the late model heads should help the low end out. Depending on funds put bigger valves in the head, and clean up the bowls, polish the intakes and exhaust. Really polish the cc. I would run zero gap rings (total seal) .

I would buy Svens book - 60 ford v-6's from Amazon or his web site. Its dated buit has somwe decent info about the 4.0( most stuff is geared to the 2.9, I think it was written in 90 or 91 when the 4.0 was just out.)

Do a search there has been a few threads that have the engine info your looking for.
Have fun

its the ohv. i was also thinking of swappin in a ford or mazda 5 speed since i already have the flywheel from jdraper on hte engine. keep the ideas coming, i dont have a huge budget but this is a project so anything is possible. the gears in my truck are 3.73 if that helps with the suggestions

Hey man! He's right. Plus all those power accessory wires should be powered off of the Power Distribution Box. You have a positive lead right off the front of it. Much cleaner and safer than running them off the battery terminals.

thats all ben taken care of. when i put my new brusguard and kc's on i rewired inside the engine. i havent put up any new pics

Nope, wasn't a '93. Was a '92 Sport. :p Key word there is WAS :( ! The motor is a 4.0 OHV. My suggestions for the upgrade are:
1. New cam
2. Port and polish
3. New intake mainfold
4. Headers
5. New throttle body.
6. New injectors
7. Supercharger

All that will set you back about $1300 in parts without the supercharger. Add another $2500-$3000 for that.

Ah, the price we pay for power!!

Hey! 500 posts!! Thanks all for helping me spend my money on the X!!

Bigcheck,

with 32's and the 3.73s I think I would stick with the smaller comp cams cam(410-8) or something similar unless you regear at some point to 4.11s or better, or are really serious about the BBK or some kind of SC . If you do decide to run a bigger cam I would definately look at raising the comp ratio.

The stock injectors will work fine for most any NA engine build with a mild cam- I think I read some where that they can flow enough for 230-250 hp. Get new upper end parts Rockers, shafts, pushrods and lifters. Think about some new aftermarket valve springs. Just more thoughts.

good luck

Bigcheck...

There is a thread here somewhere entitled "Help me build the ultimate 4.0" or something like that.
anyway, it's a pretty informative thread as I recall...

Do replace the lifters, pushrods, valves, etc. If you're going to tear it all down, I would replace those for sure. Also you might look into boring it out a little, maybe 30-over...just a thought.
