so i have to change camshaft sensor and synchro. can anyone show me step by step on how to get #1 piston to tdc? or can i just remove old one and replace new synchronizer in same positon the other came out? any help would be great.

As long as the whole sensor flag is intact, you can install it in the same position. Keep in mind one tooth off will be hard to see.

There should be some kind of casting flash in the center of both shaft housings. Use this as a reference point for the housing position, along with the angle of the sensor plug. Mark the block along that reference line.

After taking off the sensor cap- Use a camera to take a picture of the flag position. The flag position will be what is off if you are a tooth off on the cam gear-with the shaft reference mark lining up. There should be marks on the inside of the sensor housing to use as a flag position reference also.
