Tips for Gas Mileage

if you want gas mileage go buy a honda, until then stop *****ing
Not true. I got 29.4 mpg when I drove to San Jose with stock tires. I would average 21-22 mpg mixed driving until I did the lift and 31's...now I'm wondering why I did that.
Jake is absolutely right, use the brakes as minimally as possible and just coast.

I only wish I would get the #'s you guys are complaining about. I have a 5.0 V8 AWD Eddie & drive it in the city. That's N.Y.C. as in traffic & stopping every block. I get 9-11 mpg on the adv. Don't tell me to move out of N.Y.C. I have a place in P.A. also. Such is life.

Seriously OT, but that looks like one of my eggs.. (scratches head in perplexed state)

keep the RPM's under 3k.....

I just filled up again tonight. No, WE won't get great gas mileage, but aldive does. ;) I drove 350.7 miles and put 17.7 gallons in. If my math is correct, thats 19.79 MPG (not too bad for a 4X4). :)

Part of that was in town, but most was on two lane (hills and curves), but I do not baby it. I had it on the floor many times passing slow drivers who are trying to save gas. Driving like my grandma is not me not matter what gas costs.

It is completly stock and has dino fluids in it. It is tuned up very well though.

The fruit of a chicken is an EGG, and yes I took the pic five minutes ago :D

Oh chicken fruit !!!!!!!!!
I get it now !!!!!!!!!!!
Funny :D

also get up to speed as fast as possible...don't drag it on that burns more fuel...once at speed then all your really doing is coasting

So slam on the gas until you're up to speed? Somehow I don't think that'll work.

I am with you husky.
That doesnt make sence.

Chicken fruit works

As I said, that is going by the console, which I am just a little skeptical of. I also have a V6 and I think most people on here have V8's.

Not true. The percentage of people who have V8's in their Explorers is probably 15-20%.

Look i'm all for better gas mileage, but some of you need to relax and get over it, you drive a 5000+ pound suv, it will never get good gas mileage, if you want gas mileage go buy a honda, until then stop *****ing. Sorry for the rant, but it seems like all I see on this forum anymore is people complaining about gas mileage, and how much it costs.

1st/2nd Explorers weigh around 4100 pounds, give or take a few depending on year and equipment.

To answer the original question, use the search function and you'll find an absolutely incredible amount of info. This topic has probably been talked about more then any other besides TT/shackles.

Try $8 dollars

Try $8 a gallon then come crying ;) Thats how much heir Blair and his mates charge us UK mugs.
