i bought my 96 xlt and it has a broken torsion bar. anyways ive done alot of research on this site and found alot of good information. the only thing i have a question about is that you have to relieve the tension when you remove the torsion bar and then put it back in, well if its broke wouldnt the tension already be relieved?

I would think so. Is it truly snapped in half?

yes its snapped. i got the part coming in the mail so im trying to learn how to do this so i can do it myself. but im reading how it can be dangerous because of the tension so i dont know

i ordered the part online for $52 plus $8 shipping, then they sent me a email saying its going to be $25 shipping instead does that sound right or are they trying to screw me over already?

They have different ratings, and are different lengths side to side-
be sure to get the correct one, or a matching set.

Now is the time to go with v8 bars--

yea i plan on driving it over there and make sure its the right one

Yeah just find a v-8 and snag the torsion bars. I put a set in my v6 and am pretty happy with the results so far..

i dont know how but it is driveable i just dont go to fast especially over bumps because theres about 1" of space between the top of my tire and the inside of the fender. thats why i need to get it fixed asap because this is my only way of transportation besides my moms junk blazer

I seriously recommend the junk blazer for the parts run-please.

take the old bar with you

the 4wd wont engage on the blazer so i cant get out of my driveway

wait--
I have 2 bars that Dan Whittaker left here when we replaced the v8 bars on his 97 mounty
you can have them for shipping if you could wait a few days-
Just don't drive the truck--
