i am somewhat new to this all and i have done hours n hours of searching, but the only lift from trailmaster i can find is a 4". i bought a 91 ex eddie bauer 4dr 4x4 with a trailmaster lift. its all suspension, no body. it clears 33x12.5 with 15x10 rims with no rubbing except for complete turns rub a very little on the inside wheel well fender n if i put a 1" BL on it i could probably clear 35s without much of an issue. but everything i have read says you really can't clear 33s with only 4inchs. anybody have any ideas to what this could be? i really don't think its something done custom lift, it all looks like its from a kit, and the guy i bought it from didn't lift it to wheel, he lifted it so he could tow it behind his RV n the hitch recievers would line up better (he didn't know how high it was lifted either, guessed 4-6"). it looks like it also has 2 shocks in the front for steering stablizers but i'm not sure. i have had the wheels aligned by 3 different shops n it still pulls pretty bad to the right. i also would like to do a soa eventually, but have no idea what i should do with the front if i do that, because the coils etc aren't stock because of the lift thats already on there, i've searched on this forum, and a couple of others, plus through all the stuff i can find from trailmaster n can't find anything like this. if anyone has any ideas to what i may have here, pleast let me know. or any ways i could go about the front in a soa (i know i need perches for the rear)? or how much more lift a soa might give me (i know they give about 5.5" on a stock ex)? anything will be highly appreciated. thanks

an soa will give abot 6-6.5 and there are 5.5", 6", and 8" lifts for the first generations. Maby the guy mistakenly put on a 5.5 inch instead of the 4"......look at Jdrapers.....he suposedly put a 4" on and it clears 33's with no problem...any simmilarites.

thats with 33's
here is the thread http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157509

Alright, you'll be able to fit 35 with the 4" lift if you switch from 10" to 8" wheels and get fiberglass fenders up front. You'll also have to clearance the firewall. If you're going to do the SOA then you might want to sell the Trailmaster and get the Superlift 5.5 or Skyjacker 6" so it will sit level.

Here is my first one with 4" Trail Master and 33s

Here it is on the Rubicon with 35s and front glass.

Then i guess mine is a 4". i'd post a pic, but i can't figure out how. i tried. and if i got a new lift for a 5.5" or 6" i would only need to buy it for the front? i'm kinda confused how i would go about doing all that

where would i be able to buy just the front for a kit? n would i leave the rear lifted the way it is now along with the soa? or would i have to bring it back down to stock, then do soa? thanks a lot, btw.

The Superlift kit might even come with the perches if you get the 5.5. I'm not sure.
If you SOA with the Trail Master springs in there you'll get about 9" lift. You'll want to find some stock rear springs and that will give you the 5-6" lift you want.

hell, at that point 9" in the rear is cheaper than 6". whats the easiest way to get it level in the front with 9" in the rear?

It won't be cheaper because you'll need to extend the rear drive shaft as well.
I don't think it's possible to lift the front that high and still be able to align it. You don't want to lift it that high anyway. ;)

yeah, thats true. so if i got stock springs with a soa and got about 6" out of that for the rear, the only way for the front to level it would still be buying the front from a kit? i've already got 4" in the front, is there and whats the easiest/cheapest way to just get another 2"?

You might be able to align it if you get coil spacers or 6" springs from another kit. It might max out the camber adjustment. The theory is that you can go 2" over the drop bracket size. So if you have 4" drop brackets you can actually get 6" springs. So there is another option.

If you get front coil seats for I think it's a 92 2wd F-150, that's what you're looking for. Do a search and there is a part # somewhere on this site.

thanks, that helps a lot. although, i've had the camber adjusted twice and the alignment done, it still pulls pretty bad to the right. any ideas with that? n how much worse will another 2" make it?

I'm not too sure about all that. Mybe someone else will chime in and help you with that one.

On my old one that had the 4", I stuck with the 4" and stuck 35s on it and beat the crap out of it.

yeh, i just don't really wanna get fiber glass fenders, plus this is still my daily. i think i'm just gonna get stock springs with a soa in the rear, then 6" coils for the front. who makes the 6" n 8" lifts? thanks froader.
