A few weeks ago I replaced my tranny filter and the fluid that came out during the filter replacement. Ever since that day, I get hard shifts from neutral into 1st gear. The vehicle will rev up and then suddenly clunk into 1st gear. Also, this only happens about 30% of the time.
I've now drained (drain plug only) and refilled the fluid twice now (about 2.5 quarts each time) to make certain I had the correct fluid level. The fluid level was checked by over filling the pan and then waiting for a drip drip from the check bolt after the vehicle had been driven a few miles.
What could this be?
Why would it happen suddenly after the filter and fluid replacement?
Note/Clue: This was the first server this tranny has ever seen.
