transmission swap-

ok got a few questions, first swaping out a trans. in 95 explorer 2wd - shows a 4r55e - found a 98 model that shows should be the same transmisison, picked it up and found there seems to be one diffrence- the 98 does not have the speed sensor/gear in the tailshaft as the 95 did, appears to be a magnetic pickup closer to the main housing?Any suggestions?thanks for a great site@!

Can't help you but several people here have tried that swap, all had problems but I never saw that anyone posted back to say they got it working. The 4R55E is a 4 speed trans the 98 is a 5R55E 5 speed trans, I do know that the separator plates are different. I would say search the forum and also maybe some one who has tried this swap will give you a reply.
