i have a 1990 Ranger 2WD with I believe the transmission is a A4LD? I am rebuilding the transmission using a kit and the transmission stores manual for this specific transmission. However, I hit a snag because I cant get one of the clutch assemblies apart and the book doesn't help. I believe the 2 clutches stuck together are called the reverse-high and the forward assembly. Do these 2 come apart? I hear a gear sound inside which doesn't feel smooth, So I am guessing I have to take them apart. Any questions? I have never rebuilt a transmission before and cant afford to take it to a repair shop because I am losing my job.
