Are there going to be any Ford reps or any other manufacturers/distributers at this one? I am sure that we can convince Ford to come as long as we promise they don't have to ride w/ Tom Davis.

I'm not inviting Ford on this run, too much of a hassle. I did invite Mickey Thompson's and Offroad Unlimited's repss to bring out their modified Explorers. Both parties expressed interest and I will speak with them again at the SEMA show.

T-Shirts Etc.

Leebo:

If your photo program work is toward a t-shirt for T-H 2k+1, don't let me stop you, we just need to think it through so we don't look like a commercial operation, etc. Its just that If everybody out there is wearing a "run" t-shirt, and we get stopped by the Rangers, it'd be tough to make them believe that we all just coincidentally showed up on the same week-end. It's kind of "hard evidence" that we're on an organized group run. Part of the problem is that there is no universal policy or attitude toward, or definition of "Organized Group Activities". It seems to be up to the head Ranger or Manager of a particular district of the BLM, Nat. Park, or State Park. as to how they handle it in their area, and there is no set fee schedule, but rather that is up to the Ranger also, depending how he percieves the group. Again, as Rick can tell you, we ran into this at MOAB this year. I think that at COlors 2K w2e just didn't say anything to the BLM or Nat Park, and "just coincidentally" showed up, and had no problems. GJarrett can tell us more about that since he basically organized the run. Oh, I forgot, he didn't ORGANIZE the run, he just told a few friends where he was going that week, and we all just showed up to surprise him! :)

Anyhow, I'd like to see a shirt for the un-organized un-run, we just need to handle it carefully. If some the folks think we can hand them out as we leave or whatever, or at a un-group dinner if we decide to have one on this un-run, that might work fine!

I think that a UN-group dinner would be sort of nice, don't you? also, since alot of the UN-drivers will be UN-camping out this year, a UN-pot luck dinner would be pretty cool too. Any UNcomments from the UN-peanut gallery? I also like the idea of the Un-Run Tee shirts. Dead Link Removed

UN

The UN-Group dinner and Un-Potluck get my YES UN-Vote!

Yep, the CCR2000 UNrun was a total coincidence. I would like to say that I enjoyed the company of everyone that happened to drop by my campsite that weekend!

You guys are making me really wish I could get out there for Truckhaven. Hmmm....

I don't think we need to worry about un-anything. In five years of going to Truckhaven, I've never seen or heard of any type of officals or enforcement out there. What I have heard is that its private land, if not all of it, than parcels scattered throughout. I was a member of a 4x4 club that checked into purchasing a small plot so we would have a "reserved" campsite for the TDS Desert Safari every year, supposedly something that at least one other club has done. To be sure, I'll fire off an e-mail to TDS4x4 to get the story from them. They've held their run there for 36 years straight, with PAID attendance topping 1100 vehicles!

Bill,

Great: and thanks for checking this out. Hopefully you're right about Truckhaven. Makes sense, as I haven't seen any Rangers there, either (except OD colored Ford ones) :) I just thought Big Red said it was BLM when we were talking on one of his runs. Could he be wrong ? ;)

The UN group thing will still have to apply for those who want to go with me over into the A-B State Park though.

I would kinda like to know who's all going in January?? I'm thinking about taking our travel trailer and maybe taking several items for the group(ie tools, water, toilet paper,ect...) I've only got a sport though and I don't want to pack it too heavy, in fact I really don't want to tow it with my sport at all. If anybody's willing to help with the towing I'd be able to give you a place to sleep. It's beat up a ton but it's got air and a toilet. If anybodys willing to towing a trailer from vegas to there and back let me know. Heck I'll even toss in a few bucks. Also...there were several people going through vegas on the way, who's in and who's out.

We are in

Well Kelly and I are definetly going, not sure if we are gonna go through Vegas yet. The southern route is faster and less hills. If anything we will go back through Vegas to visit with her parents. Anyone else from Texas wanna join the caravan?

leebo,
I will be heading down through vegas but I will be towing a small trailer of my own, sorry I can't help out in that area.

Confused

Well, I'm definitely in, but I'm a little confused about the actual dates and details of the trip. Fill me in, and I'm there. It sounds like its gonna be HUGE!!

check out this post...it lists all the info needed for the bigest badest Explorer run ever

Sounds like fun although I'm kind of holding back because of the long drive.

Maybe I can just ship my rig?

Chicago is pretty far away.

Boy I'm jealous.

Maybe I'll just buy a C-130 Hercules. I can put every piece of camping equipment I own in it, drive the truck up behind everything, shut the hatch and I'm set to go. I checked out a satellite view of Truckhaven, and it looks like I could land right there! :D

Oh well, guess I'll have to settle for a trip report...

Let me know if you think there will be enough room for another rig and one more person.

lol,

Andre,
You just need to convince you friends to come along with you.

Friends? we'd love to come and especially since it's gonna be like middle of winter for us. Long drive though...... I don't know.
I'll think about it. Moab looks a lot better anyway.

i'm ready

well boys,

my explorer just came out of the shop yesterday with new front (4:56) gears to match the rear and a front Lock-Right Locker to go with it. Do I have to have both axles locked up before I am aloud to join the big boys at T-haven? I don't want to have to fiddle fart around with the stockers just b/c i can't afford my rear ARB yet!! Other than that, I am ready to tear it up (I mean tread lightly)!!!
