Truckhaven 2001!!

Newbie

Truckhaven Jan. 2001

I've got about 2 months to come up with a better excuse for not participating.(re:11/18/00)

By Jan.'01 I should have a sleeping bag, cooler(filled), fire wood, C.B. and a half dozen tubes of Chap-stick.

As far as a lift kit, all I can afford right now is about 10 or 20 lbs. of air in the tires.

You guys have got some really nice machines.I'm looking forward to Jan., (2000' Cherokees and all).

(I've got to see this "pumpkin" you guys were talking about)

Rick is there any word on when a mailing list of some sort with some of the numbers of people going will be put out??

Is there any word on a group dinner this year or was that killed???

Kelly and I have decided to for go the Truckhaven run, in order to save money and get the 4" Superlift and 35"s by Moab. Hope everyone has a great time!

Rod

I posted to the Truckhaven info thread that there are about 30 Explorers registered so far.

There aren't any restaurants close to T-haven, so I feel the best bet is to have nightly campfires and BBQ's. We can always do a "planned" pot luck one of the nights.

In order to reserve a room and have dinner catered like last year I would have to collect money ahead of time. I really don't want to get into that. It was nice last year when Ford payed for everyone, but that's not happening this year.

Honestly

Do you want me to print out the flyer and make some massive copies of it and post them around? I can also run some and mail them to anyone who needs them free of charge. That way we can get these out and about for everyone to see. If you want the flyer let me know how many you need and where to send it. Email me at bwooton@ocwd.com thats my work address. If that doesnt work send it to my house at svtexplorer@aol.com
ps. The flyers are gonna be black and white..no color.

i say boys you wouldn't mind having a ranger runnin with you would ya? if not i'm thinking about coming down to do a little wheeling if i do not have to work. Also the link to sign up for this isn't working so damn

The link seems to be on the server that is down. As for a ranger.....come on down.

Just looked at my calender and unless work screws me i'll be there. How many y'all gonna be camping?

I believe the majority of us will be camping on this run. Glad to have you aboard!!

2 Wheel Drive ??

HI list :)

I was wondering about the meet... and if you have many 2 wheel drive trucks show up.. and if it is safe for them. also.. i'm new to the area so where abouts is the meet in relation to bakersfield.. thanks all :)

We have Brian Wooten and his lifted 2wd Explorer. he has a locker in the rear and 33" tires which help him out tremendously. Without a setup like that you would have a tough time.

I'm not from CA so I can't give you an estimate on mileage or time.

Kwiktime - come on down! There will be at least one other 2 wheel drive, and you always have the option of riding along with someone else!

As for where it's at, visit one of the Online Mapping site (ie, yahoo, mapquest), find the "get directions" page, enter your town (bakersfield,ca), enter "truckhaven, ca" and you'll get directions to hwy 86. From there, see the thread Dead Link Removed for more information.

thanks :)

I bought a 2 wheel drive sport.."96" cute truck.. has the 4.0 and did try it on a quite steep grade.. but it had some dips in it and i didn't have the momentum to carry me up.. my truck is geared real high.. and i ended up backing down the grade..lol.. with a real hot clutch.. well nuff for now :) thanks for typing

Come on down anyways.....heck if nothing else as of right now I'm the only one from around here going so I've got an open seat for the taking.

BTW....good old tent for me. I couldn't find anyways to get the camper down there so I guess I'll freeze at night with the rest of you.

:) thanks

The runs on Jan. 13-14 most of us are planning on getting there early or leaving late. I posted a map on one of your other threads....

Here is the link that Rick has set-up for all the up-to-date info on the run

As for me....I'm in Vegas right now...there's going to be a few of us coming up with a small group meeting in Vegas...we're still waiting on Matt to see what's up with him....slacker. :)

I'm planning on coming, depends if I can get the Explorer done in time... I always like to wait until the last minute, I'm suprised you didn't know that already :).

that's it.....I'm never thinking again. Last I knew you doubted you were going....then I read several posts that you can't wait for the night runs(in which I'm hoping on getting my lights by then to compare them to Piaa's)

I'm just a confused little boy....
