Well since I had some time and the weather was great, I decided to finally install the tube doors I bought from Rick 2 years ago :D

I decided that I would be too lazy to ever put the stock dors on so I used parts from them to make the latches. Of course, no topic like this is good w/out pics, so here they are.

Inside door handle from stock door. Sorry about the tape

Latch and rod to handle. Eventually there will be a piece of sheet metal covernig that.

looks good

Next I am going to skin the doors with some sheet metal, add padding to the armrests, and then paint everything to match the rest of the truck.

Trying to get out of diaper duty again??

Nope, just trying to get them done before diaper duty starts. As a matter of fact, there has been three diapers so far and Misty hasn't changed one. She's getting the next one though :D

That was deffinately a trademark look, but times change and the need for better visibility, less weight on top, and coolnesss factor is a bonus.

Phase two

Got the sheet metal on and primed. I also used a bead of silcone sealant/adhesive between the sheet metal and the tube two get rid of the tiny clanging sound when closing the doors or cruising down a rough trail.

On Saturday my brother-in-law is coming and we are going to paint the doors and the door jams to match the red of the rest of the truck :D

3rd and final phase

All that is left is to pad the armrests

Looks good Kevin

Now you just need some metal along the bottom of the door openings to keep crap from rolling out of your truck. It also adds a few inches to the amount of water you can cross without bringing any in.

You may also want to think about relocating your computer to the glove box area so it sits higher and won't be as vulnerable to water.

speaking of which where is teh computer? I just had a run-in with water (about 4" of it inside) a couple weeks ago and would really like avoid a flooded computer. Mebbe I'll go ahead and relocate mine.

Looking good Mac. So what's next for it?

Way ahead of you Rick. I relocated the computer Friday before it got painted on Saturday.

The stck computer is behind the passenger side kick panel below the glovebox on the right. There is just enough room in the cable to flip it and put it behind the glovebox, however you will have to trim the inside back of your glovebox to make room.

Immediate plans are to pad the front armrests on the doors and cover it in red vynyl for comfort. After that the list is endless, full width axles, hydro assist steering, 3 link rear, coil overs, etc.......

Finishing touches

Decided I needed mirrors :D

Got these done today along with the mirrors.

3/16" alluminum sealed with gutter/flashing caulking from lowes. Cheaper than black RTV, comes in a larger tube, and made of the exact same stuff :D
