When I turn the steering wheel ever so slightly, back and forth in a small area, I get a creeek... from the bottom hinge point on the right front wheel. I've heard this area called "king pins" on other rigs. This hinging action is the movement that changes your direction that you travel (vertical hinging). There are no grease zirks ANYWHERE under my rig, did the factory forget them? I hope this is not a biggie. How big a job to get at this area?
Also want to service the front wheel berrings but stopped at a housing that looks to house the berrings. Any special tools (wheel berring nut)? How about seals? Can I repack these berrings and go, or am I stuck until I get a ride to a parts store?
96 XLT very stock! 51K

the part you are refering to is actually called the lower ball joint. They are no grease fittings on it or elsewhere on your truck because Ford uses low friction ball joints which have no need for servicing. Is there any play ( movement:bounce: ) in the joint? If so it needs to be replaced. As for your wheel bearings, do you have a 4 or 2 wheel drive? I have yet to work on a 4wd so someone else will need to inform you on how they are setup, but the 2wd is no different than servicing any other wheel bearing.

No, no movement or clicking anywhere, just sounds like steel against steel... dont want anything to get that far!
This is a four wheel drive rig. Pretty handy guy, but fairly conservative on tearing into the unknown without some homework.
Thanks for the reply
