true it can be done without a kit, but the kit makes it easier and gives you a more solid install. The weight isnt just sitting on the shelf in the dash, it is also supported from the sides. I wouldnt want to mount a flip out screen without the kit..... and you get the nice trim ring. Not bad for $10.

this piucture is what i did ... I bought the kit from Scocshe it was for my vehicle and the double din but it would;t work with the 2 single dins..

all is fine now as they are uper tight in there now.. No movement at all..

Bump...because of recent interest in my XM radio installation.

Looks awesome!!

I was curious as to how you are powering it. The hp vectras require 19volts dc. I was thinking of using a combination of a jumpstart pack and a 12 volt to 19 volt convertor. This way I can use the car to keep the pack charged, it would isolated the computer from reseting due to cranking and I would always have a jumpstart pack charged and ready if I needed it!

The jumpstart pack is a great idea. To power the computer just buy a universal laptop car charger. I got mine for like $20 off ebay. Just set it to 19v and put the proper connector on it and you are good to go.

All the work you've done so far is top notch. Enjoy.

I know its an old thread but im playing with bondo and what u did its awesome!
