Uwharrie 2025

I'm sure the boyos here will be fine with October. Shorter daylight hours, may be, but much more favorable temperatures. The trail system stays open until December, so no closures to worry about.

If we don't get a majority of complaints, October it is!

10-4, I appreciate that! I'll wait to try and give some ideas for times until we've heard from a few of the others I suppose

The time for this event is fast approaching, even if we are planning for it to occur in October. With some of our places of employment requiring 30+ days advance notice for PTO requests, narrowing down the date as far as possible in advance will help to ensure that all of us will be able to plan, prioritize, and participate.

October begins in 105 days.

Maybe the 13th-17th? Monday-Friday, Monday also being Columbus day?

If nobody says otherwise, then it's a go in my book! Let's give it a couple of weeks to see if anybody else chimes in, but if not, then I'm going to mark the calendar and start putting in vacation requests.

Okay, change of plan, mentioned it to my boss and his new kid is supposed to be due around early october, and wants a bit off for that as expected, so the later in the month probably works best. So maybe the 20th-24th or the 27th-31st?

That's exactly the sort of reason I like to start making these plans as early as possible. I'd say just to be sure he has time to deal with all of his dealings, we should probably go as late in the month as possible, but let's give the others some time to check in. Congrats to your boss, too!

Yep, always love planning ahead, just in case, and always have a backup! Agreed, later the better, plus it'll be cooler out the later we go too. He says thanks haha!

So we'll plan it around the 27th-31st for now then, of course not everyone has to stay that long and I dont expect most to stay more than a couple days. Also got a couple guys that may tag along in their rigs, neither of which will be capable, but they'll camp with us lol

You don't need a particularly impressive rig to handle most of the trails, as the hardest obstacles on most trails tend to have designated skirt paths. The only major concern here is wheelbase, as there are some high-center checks, but a great deal of the trails are passable with a stock vehicle for anybody who's willing to take on the challenge. And if they aren't, then I'm sure some of us can handle a passenger or two.

That's true, but one of them is using a bone stock small Nissan work van, barely clears a speed bump, plus hes not one for offroading necessarily, hes joining to search for new turtles lol
The other guy has had a bad experience offroading in his suv once and doesn't do much with it since, probably wasn't related but he may bring his grandpa's tacamo instead. So theyll be an interesting bunch if they show lol
But for sure, I'll definitely be able to take a few passengers! Nice knowing they kinda got a trail for everything

Well, it's been more than a week, and still nobody has come along to tell us that 10/27 - 10/31 won't work for them.

Let's give a little more time and see if any thing changes, but if not, then that's gonna be the date!

Well, no disputes having been proposed, I am planning on placing the PTO requests for the dates of 10/27 through 10/29 upon my next visit to the workplace. Ordinarily I can reasonably expect that 10/30 and 10/31 should be my regularly scheduled days off, so this configuration should serve me exceptionally well, particularly if a large group attends.

With just one or two trucks, you can easily tackle every trail in the park within a two-day span. If you care about any of the other activities in the area (shooting range, fishing, kayaks and canoes, camping, hiking, horse riding, and the like) you can spend as much time here as you like. I am just here for the jeep trails.

Oh at least my girlfriend and I will be there for a bunch, we've been working on getting into kayaking so that would be a good one too! But the trails 100%

Any chance ya already asked for that off? Just thinking it may be a good idea to give my boss as much time as possible in the case the baby comes a lil' late. So maybe the first week of November instead, just a few days delay to give an extra week for him.

@DemonMudder I just sent in the forms this week, but that doesn't mean that they have been reviewed or approved yet. On the other hand, that being so, sending a request to cancel the request might not accomplish much. If it takes them a long time to process the original request, it will probably take them an equal or longer time to get to processing the cancellation request, and they might make mistakes like they did last time I made a PTO request. I appreciate that you're looking out for your boss, of course, and that he can override your PTO if he needs or wants to.

Dang, well thats aright! As said, anxiety likes to pop up for me, so figured I'd take a chance at being safer than sorry, but dont worry about it, especially if its been convoluted for ya before. If something happens, then something happens, but I'm sure things will be fine
