I am hoping to use some of the electronics from a 1998 ford explorer 5.0 manufactured 9/97 so it is before the 1/22/98 cut off date. One of my last problems for this mod is the vehicle speed sensor which on the V8 is derived from the ABS system. One of the other members reported using a ranger GEM module for converting the abs sensor signal for the pcm.
My question is: would a 98 explorer GEM from 9/97 work as a speed sensor converter? I have been going through the pin outs of a 2000 GEM from a manual I bought online and I have mostly figured out what I need. I am assuming I wire a ABS system into the input for "abs sensor module" and I wire power and ground and wire and wire "VSS output" to the PCM.
