Virginia Run Grozet/GWNF or someplace else

Well if there are no objections, why don't we plan for Friday Sept 30th thru Oct 2? As to where, I think Unclemeat seems to know the trails up that way the best. As for WhitEngineering, I feel your pain brother. I had open diffs and it sucked. I found an Explorer with 3.73s and an LS. My truck would get stuck in a mud puddle. Now I can hit bigger mud puddles :D Since we will have a 2WD truck, you should be OK.

Well .... I'll be serving my country that weekend. Thought you guys were looking a to go a little sooner, but also realize the need to plan farther in advance. Most other weekends in October are good for me, but if that ends up being the best date for everyone else, I'll try to catch up with you another time. I've been out of this for awhile, but trying to watch the board more often...

tenikiwon - What were you doing in Oshkosh? I go up there about every 2-3 months on business. Working with Oshkosh Truck Corp on truck programs for the Marines....

Paul, I was born & raised here. Owned my own computer business, but when the girlfriend graduated and got a great opportunity out east I thought it was time for a change and a fresh start.

I am actually doing temp work for Oshkosh truck in there Accounts Payable department. I guess someones gotta pay the bills.

Last weekend in Sept should be good with me, plenty of time to plan.

The trails in the GWNF are all legal as long as you stay on the trails. It is public (federal) land. The trails are passable with with stock vehicles. 2-WD with limited slip will not have a lot of trouble. They will use more brakes cause they do not have 4-low for long decents. Ditcoums trail is more than a stock 4x4 can handle for one small section. I have not been in the forest in the last couple of years, but I have USGS maps and GPS. It is best to go before hunting season starts.

The last weekend in Sept. sounds good to me.. will have more time to get everything done I want to. If we meet up that Friday, I shouldn't have a problem getting off work early.

Side note, anybody around the VB/Chesapeake area know a reputable place to have gears done?

Ask BoominX he may be able to help you.

Well since paul can't make that weekend, what if it slid back one week? Would everybody be cool with that? I don't mind waiting another week. The more the marrier. That would be the weekend of 7-9 October. Any objections?

Paul,
will that work for you?

Unclemeat,
When does hunting season start? As for myself, I'll go with what you pick. Some challanges would be nice. The only 2 wheeler of the bunch wants to go to Uwarrie. His truck makes mine look stock

I believe that bow season is mid to late October and gun season is mid November. It just gets a little crowded (realitively speaking) once the season. If you want to be challenged I once again recommend Crozet. I have not been there but that is what I have heard. You can find some challenging obsticles in the GWNF, but they may be off the trail.

I am up for the end of September.

Paul: My parents live in fredericksburg so one time im up we should meet up.

Whit: I can do gears no prob, I have most of the tools also. I have never messed with a ttb but I'm up for a challange. I also work for cheap. Let me know if you need some help

My plans cancelled this week do to gas prices. I can't afford the 300 mile one way trip. I got some more front lift yesterday out of the tortion bars so she is a little taller. Remember though you have 3 wheels pulling where I have 2 pushing ;)

At this point, I can make any weekend in Oct, except the first weekend (1-2 Oct). The weekend of 7-9 Oct would work well, if that's still good with everyone else. I'm going to try to make it up to Paragon this weekend - we'll see how the truck holds up...

Boomin - drop me a line sometime when you're up this way...

I should be able to make any weekend in Oct.

Boomin'- Thanks for the offer... I'm gonna try to lift it and get tires over the next week then decide what exactly I wanna do and get with you. Hopefully I'll be geared and locked by the run.

ok im too lazy to read three pages to get in on this so when where what and who?

Who want to go to crozet the 7-9 of october????????

Still In

I don't care when or where, I just wanna go. I prefer to wheel the Sammy but it's bone stock. With that said it seems to out wheel my X (33s, LS). I don't have internet at home yet so keep me posted.

If anyone wants to meet up in Richmond let me know. I'm board and unemployeed! LOL.

Also, if anyone has any job leads for Computer stuff let me know.

Also, what kind of camping will this be? Lightweight or bring the kitchen sink? Costs?

Well if you are an IT type then there appears to be alot of stuff up there. HP has a field office up there. I interviewed with them a while back. It was a good job, company car etc. That was for a field engineer spot. Try monster.com, they might have something in that area.

As for wheeling, I am game for either of the first 2 weekends in October so far. I am just waiting for evrybody to firm up on their dates. Grozet is fine with me as well.

I have seen on another thread that Crozet has an open date for October 13-14. Or GWNF at the end of September.

Do you have to have a reservasion to go to Grozet?

This has turned into the lost thread. Anybody still want to go wheel? I am up for the GWNF if we get some intrest. If not I am going to sign up for Crozet on October 14-15. So if anybody is serious now is the time.
