Mine wound up going back in again. It was leaking on the right 3rd row this time. Turns out the roof rack still wasn't sealed correctly after 2 attempts at it. Hopefully all is good now. My dealership has been great and replaced all my carpet and interior parts.

Just wanted to reply that thanks to Cory, my Explorer Limited is leak free and the whole experience was painless. They had to put it in the body shop to replace the sealant on the right rear of the vehicle and hatch. Thanks again!

...its now happened to me twice so I'll be bringing back our 2011 XLT. it's disappointing, but I'm hoping they've seen this before and have the repair down pat already...
I’m glad you’re taking it to be checked out, Edgieguy; I have your information from before, so drop me a line via PM with your current mileage and I’ll arrange a follow-up call from your regional Customer Service Manager.

fordmanck,

It’s great you weren’t left “all wet”. ;) LOL JK Thanks for the update.

Terrible service continues

We have the same issue. My wife told me about this and I couldn't figure it out or track it down, its now happened to me twice so I'll be bringing back our 2011 XLT. it's disappointing, but I'm hoping they've seen this before and have the repair down pat already. Our leak is passenger side front seat belt, 2nd row reading light, and third row seatbelt.

Just a follow up to our leak story...

We brought the Ex back to our dealer All American Ford in Paramus NJ and explained what the issue was. They told us to bring it the following week since they had a "Water specialist" on Thursdays... Water specialist? Really? Uh-oh I thought, this isn't going to be good. We left it on a Thursday at 7am hoping to get it back maybe the same day or next. Didn't happen. The weekend came and went and we continued waiting a full week until the following Thursday when we were called back. The dealer stated that the carpets and padding in our vehicle did not need to be replaced, but they were cleaned. They certainly didn't smell clean. But I was assured there would be no mold or mildew growth.
I got the Ex and as I drove the short distance back to our home I heard and saw the rear sunroof panel bucking up and down at highway speed, sure that it was about to fall out I drove the shoulder home at 25 MPH with hazards flashing. When I got home I saw that the screws holding in the rear sunroof pane were never replaced. There wasn't a single screw holding the glass in!:thumbdwn:

The Ex went immediately back to the dealer and stayed until the following Tuesday. Apologies and handshakes all around and we had our car back. Its now Friday morning, YEP 3 DAYS LATER... and our Ex is Leaking water worse than ever!!! Wife dropped it off at the dealer without even an apology about the service, and to add insult to injury they cram her into a Focus from an SUV that held kids in car seats, and strollers. Obviously no one is checking the completeness or road ready-ness of repairs, any type of quality control simply doesn't exist. I can't begin to explain how pissed we are with the dealer and how they are unable to get repairs of any type done correctly, and on the first attempt :fire:

BUYERS BEWARE! ALL AMERICAN FORD IN PARAMUS NJ HAS TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

Seems to be only on 2011, anyone seen it on other years? I'll have to check mine next time it rains.

Edgieguy, I got very similar service at my dealership although my initial issue wasn't a leak and they don't even care that they give bad service. although the finance guy praises them like they are the best ever to sell warranties.

Makes me wonder if we should try to purchase the ESP warranty before we hit our 2 year anniversary. If things like this are going to continue on a vehicle we own it might be well worth it.

I'm wondering if you wouldn't be better off trading it in before the 36 month warranty is up....

Update: 11/13/11
So our Ex is going in again to the dealer. Sandy rained on us an the roof leaked again. Beside our roof leak my wife is getting a low oil pressure warning light when oil level is perfect. MFT went Black twice in two days, and when I drove it today I let off the gas to coast to a changing traffic light and when I tried to accelerate again, the transmission slammed so hard I felt as though I got rear ended. I really at a loss here... My wife isn't happy, and is starting to not love her truck. When wifey ain't happy, no ones happy.:navajo:

I just noticed I get water leaking on my 2011 Base model. It seems only happen when it is parked downhill, when it's parked uphill or level surface it is fine.

It is also on the thrid row passenger side, mine was built June 2011, so I am guessing most 2011 models will have this water leak.

My dealer will be getting a third party specialist to have to checked, hope it doesn't take too long

This weekend we were hit by a nice snow storm and while I was driving around when I stopped for a red light all of a sudden this water started dripping from the interior lights on the roof!!! It dripped into the touch system and I quickly had it wiped off, but what the heck?!?!?! Seriously water?!?!

It did it once on Saturday and today it did it again on lunch, anybody know of this issue???

heard of it happening by the 3rd row seats coming down the seatbelt, but never from the front dome lights. Do you have a sunroof? I would definitely get it into the dealer.

Our Ex is going back to the dealer for the 4th time wednesday for this same issue. It was returned to us the second time and went back to the dealer within 2 hours. Dealer says its from rear of sunroof, but what do they know? Its still leaking.... Seems to be limited to the 2011 XLTs

interesting they say its the sunroof...because mine doesn't have one lol

They did however do some work on the wiring for the interior lights (which wasn't working) and had to take the headliner off for it.

I'm thinking that it is more related to the rear wipers, the piping goes over the headliner and I've had some serious issues with getting water back there, guess we'll see what the dealer says

Hope you are staying dry! The dealer is best to help out. I suggest informing them of the repeated leaking concern. Please let me know if you continue experiencing the leaking after having the dealer look at it again.

make sure to check where the hose for the rear washer is (if you have one!). Mine froze once and then leaked into the cabin at the headliner lights.

Good thinking, I'll ask about a freeze/crack problem.

Gina,
Thanks, I'll keep you posted on the next attempt at repairing this.

Edgieguy,

I wanted to check in on whether you’ve been to the dealer. I have your information from previous messages, so drop a line via PM with your current mileage and I’ll lend a hand.

I’m jumping in to see what the status is on the leak, Joeymustang; should I send a rescue boat? ;)

Cory

I still havent had it happened again and it hasn't rained for a while so I'm waiting for it to happen again to take it to the dealer.

I did give it a nice wash and nothing happened.
