doesnt matter if the truck was registered as non op... that means it cant touch any street until its operational again... its no insurance or registration, with a vehicle that obviously doesnt pass the required equipment laws.... basically learn not to be an idiot.. yeah i sound like a smartass, but you know what?> i have been there and done that.. and i am only trying to help you realize your idiotness now befroe you get into worse trouble later.... had i had the help when i was younger, it would have made me realize what i was doing was dumb... but i didnt..... people are really hard on cops... guess what? being a cop isnt easy... and young kids dont realize this..... how many other jobs are there where you put yourself in the line of possible fire everyday to protect people? i dont like cops in general because i ahve been mistreated by a fair amount of cops... however, i respect them for what they do.... most people never se them in a positive light... but when you dont see them, just htink about it, they are doing there job.....

i stoped by a friends house(a cop hiwy prl) and he metioned that because the ford explorer is registered as a passenger vehicle (4 seats) the cop could have and luckly didnt, cited for having the truck lifted at all. im not shure what the hight limit is on trucks but because they are not passenger vehicles, legaly pickups are the only vehicles you can lift in california. anyone know anything about this?

the point is your truck was not registered at all... and your truck is basically a station wagon, it still falls under the truck law though because it uses body on frame construction and not unibody construction where as a jeep cherokee would be consdiered... the point is, its still illegal in its curretn state.... fight that part, but get insruance and register it.... for them to nail you for it, they have to prove you are guilty without a reasonable doubt.... good thing you didnt get into an accident or anything on your way home... you could be in jail right now... consider yourself lucky

I'm with Silversl5000. I'm not picking on anyone but I'llbring up a point that is frequently discussed by the PNW4WDA. Driving illegal rigs on the street, full of mud with no respect for the rules looks bad not only on the person doing it, but also on the 4 wheeling community. People don't remember the 10 well built rigs with mud flaps, flares etc, they remember the drunks with beat up POS rigs screaming through wetlands or construction sites.

I drive a HIGHLY modified rig and I hate driving anywhere near a cop and despite being pulled over several times, I've not been ticketed - yet. I do have illegal height issues, I have flares even though they're not quite wide enough and I have full mud flaps. I have valid tabs and insurance. I may not fit the full legal bill, but it doesn't look like a POS that shouldn't be on the road. I'm not saying that brnbmbr's rig looks like a POS - just using an example.

We do not condone illegal wheeling or driving a vehicle without proper registration, insurance, etc. If you plan to continue doing it, please don't mention your intentions or your results on this forum. Ever consider what harmful effects you are doing to the Offroading community by breaking the law?

i got all my **** together last friday and got the mud flaps signed off. so you all can calm down.

I agree with silver, very irresponsible.
