Even with the 20's lo pro tires and all that, with his mods he should be able to chirp the hell out of his tires.

maby the floor mat is in the way of the pedal

Hehe, for all the typing and input we all gave in this thread it better not be something that simple. lol ;)

this thread is funny. If it counts for anything I can spin my 35's from a dead stop and also a nice "chirp" from 1-2 if I have it floored. I am talking one tire with an open rear end. If I lock up the rear I doubt the 35's will burn out.

With the 33's on there, well double that....

BII + 5.0L =

She's kinda tricky to drive sometimes now, especially if the roads are wet....

Uploaded a new Torque 93 Octane tune today. Still cannot chirp but 0-60 is 7.45. ( Avg of 3 - 0-60 times with a hand held Stopwatch)

Confirmed today that I have a 3.73 limited Slip Rear.

I don't know if this will be compatible with the explorers but being the same Transmission you may wanna look into this.

Called the Jerry's Tranmission MOD (modifications to the 4R70W valve body) i've considered doing it to my car to firm up my shifts and get a nice chirp into second.

maybe you can use it.

The J-mod is for the 4R70W trannies. The tranny we have in the 02+'s is the 5R55W which is very different. The 96-01 V8's have the 4R70W tranny though, in which case this mod would work. Or a person could just go out and buy a Baumann shift kit for only $100.

Coach_Al, the best way to get our trannies to shift faster is to increase the line pressure and shift rpm. For off the line power your tuner will need to add more spark timing and lean out the fuel mixture just a tad. Try datalogging with your current tune's spark timing tables and send me the log. I will compare it to some others I have around here and see what the difference is.

Oh, BTW just FYI all 02+ Explorer V8's have the 3.73 LS rear end and the higher class towing package too.

what happens if you hold down the brake and floor it in 1rst or 2nd? Does it squeal or just rev?

Thanks... Can't datalog yet. I found out that the problem with the X2 is the latest datalogging software has been pulled from the website. They found a bug and are fixing it. You may want to check out the SCTFLASH.com website if you have version 2.3.4 of LIVE LINK.. Here is the response I got from SCT

In order to datalog on the device itself, you will need Livelink ver 2.3.4. If yours is older than that, you will need an update. This has been temporarily removed from the downloads section because of a few minor bugs, but it will be fixed soon and back in the downloads section. You will also need an XC2 with firmware of 1.9 or 1.10. We will have an update for older firmware soon also.

Yeah I figured something was messed up with it. I tried on-device datalogging a week ago an it was messing up. If you notice, that is why I said the comment about pass-through datalogging, is because I knew the on-device wasn't working properly yet. ;) Glad to see SCT will have this working properly here soon. I am having to wait to DL till I get my laptop screen put back together which may be a few more days. Soon I will be able to datalog not only PID's but also full air/fuel ratios and fully tune my truck without the need of another person to tune it for me. :D ticktockticktockticktock...

Limited slip rear is going to lower your chances of a chirp.

Hehe

My little 4.0 OHV can do a nice power stance.

Simply place in 4-low, flip the brown wire switch to disengage the front drive shaft. Hold the brake and hit the gas.

33' inch mud terrains make quite the squal! :D Deep gears probably help a bit.

yeah the L/S is probably hurting you.

Dude it is not the LS. My truck has the LS and when it was more or less stock I could easily light the 20's up from a stop. Once I got my tune this last November it was allot easier to light the rears up because I had more spark timing put into my table down low so I had more power off the line.

Al the only difference I can think of is your climate. I am in northern Illinois which is allot colder and because of that the truck produces more power. Heated pavement is usually a little stickier than cold pavement too. Other than that i can find no reason why you shouldn't be able to roast your tires off.

Here is a sure fire way to smoke um bigtime, this is a ricer development that really works, matter of fact, you will be able to smoke um to the point where you will not be able to move forward.
Bleach injectors, yes you heard right, ricers in my town divert via tubing and a spray nozzle from the windshield washer container (filled with bleach) to the rear or front tires, hit the washer button, mash the gas, and the smoke show is to die for:)

wow I dont get how an 8 Doesnt chip the tires. IF my 6 can......Maby ford gave you a 4 cylendier from the escort and put the v8 badge on it with the valve covers.....lol

4:56 L/S 5.0 on 35's can leave 2 marks at least 20 feet strait on dry pavement and chirp 2nd. Then again I have some decent power adders.
FMS headers, true duals, mac intake, pro-M maf, 1'' upper-lower spacer, no EGR

Found P1000 code.

Ran a Diag test. Found code p1000. I have had this code for a while. I thought it was to reset itself. It means, I think, the OBD cycle is not complete. I decided to disconnect the battery and will leave it overnight. I will reconnect in the morning. How should I drive it when I reconnect. Agressively or easily. As I understand, the Computer needs to relearn.
