Why did I buy a black car?

Ok, I have another car show coming up in May and need some serious work done to the car. I have water spots on the car that I cannot get off. I have stripped all the old wax off, used cleaner polish, and rewaxed the car. Dang spots are showing back up. :fire:

I haven't used a clay bar yet. Will that get the water spots off? Someone help me....I want to win this car show. The paint is perfect, car is shiny, I just can't get the dang water spots off.

Any help would be appreciated at this point.

I don't think the clay bar will help that. I think you need to use a light touch with some polishing compound on a buffing wheel.

As Rick said, the clay may not remove all the water spots but it will help.

I would recommend using clay before any wax/polish job.

Try 50/50 mixture of white vinegar/water...wash...polish and wax.

I can empathize fully!!! I've got spider cracks and swirl marks in my Mach that are a mutha to remove. I'm gonna take my car in for a professional detailing before the Carlisle AFN's this year to try and make it look right. Part of the problem is Fords crappy paint quality. I'm completely amazed at how easily it gets scratched and pitted...****ty quality paint is an understatement!!! :fire: I'll probably end up getting the car stripped and re-painted in a couple of years with a top notch paint job...

You guys should try Zaino Bros polishes. I haven't personally tried them, but I hear that they are better than anything you can buy at Advance Auto.

I'm with you on black. I am taking the Trac between now and next Friday to a professional detailer here in Philly. I need the whole shabang - rotary buff and all. Mine is spotted, also. When the car is black, it comes with the territory.

Black is definitely a pain to keep clean, but it looks damn good when it is.
I agree with Rick on the buffing wheel and compound.

i would go with a good wax and a GOOOOD buffing wheel job. MOTHERS IS THE STUFF TO GET. My friend has used 17 diff kinds of polishes and waxes on his R1 and mothers has turned out better than anything yet.

My doors look like that...it's the roof and around the edges of the windows that has the spots. Driving me crazy.

About the wax, I have been using the newest Maguire's, can't think of the name of it right now, but I use 3M polish to really clean the car before I put new wax on. Maybe I just didn't use enough elbow grease.

I need to try the Zaino because I hear lots of good things about it, as well, on all the Mustang sites. Maybe if I am super sweet, I can get SVO to do the dirty work for me this time.

Knowing where you live and reading the thread title I automatically assumed you were getting angry at the lovely Bastrop yellow color that black vehicles change to overnight. I remember my 01 black F-150 in high school would change colors every night during the spring in Bastrop.

I know most people will probably disagree here but I love BLACK MAGIC liquid wax, I use it on my X and the paint is 12 years old and it looks pretty damn good heres a pic before my clears were in

I love black! All my vehicles are black. '05 Explorer, '01 Patrol, '00 Civic and '04 Optra. They are a pain to maintain and it takes only seconds in the harsh Philippines weather to get them all dusty.

I use Meguiars NXT wax. Easy on, easy off. They smell good too. A friend of mine is convincing me to use Poorboy's. He says the packs are more expensive but they are more efficient to use - for professionals that is.

Nope, do all my work myself. I don't let anyone drive my car (except SVO on occasion) and no one else touches my car. This is my baby and I am too picky.

Stang Girl, as for detailing it yourself:

I used to be that way, but I got sick of the time and effort needed to detail. I have the full complement of tools - Porter Cable buffer, microfibers, all Zaino supplies, all Sonus polish products, etc.

However, Black broke my back. I can spend three days working on it, and after the next wash or rain storm, the spots form again. The sun + any water on black = spots. I finally gave in and am taking mine to a local place that details for the local Benz, Acura, and Infinity dealers, as well as for private folks. Because I am at school in a suburb of Philadelphia (about 5 miles from Allen Iverson), I figure I can trust these guys with a Ford. It may not be the type of vehicle they usually do, but that can be a good thing.

Of course, I don't keep mine as shiny as I used to, only because I do not want to drop Bens for someone to wash my car. Once per year is good enough.
