Michael and I are heading back up to Wickenburg this weekend to check out some old mines. The trails are rated as moderate in the Arizona Backroads book.

If you're interested in joining us post up... You vehicle should be on at least 33s and be equipped with at least one locker or limited slip.

Here's our photos from todays run: www.explorerforum.com/wickenburg4_9_06

Small group, just Michael, Danny and myself.

Dan had a couple problems today. Somehow he destroyed a CTM U-Joint and a Warn axle shaft:eek: Weird thing is we weren't doing anything when it busted. Most of the trails we ran today were very easy for these rigs although they are rated as moderated trails in the Charles Wells book.

After disconnecting the front drive shaft Danny proceeded to drive out in 2wd low range. Unfortunately the tranny totally fried not long after he went it 2wd mode. First it spit a cooler line off and lost a bunch of fluid, after topping it back off it went maybe a half mile or so before the tranny was slipping and smoking. We were still WAY back in the mountains and I ended up having to pull Dan back to Wickenburg. That wasn't too bad except on steep loose inclines where momentum was a must!

That mine that I have pictures of is the SMELLIEST mine I've ever been in:eek: I think something may have died in there... It was bad enough that I only ran in to take a few quick photos while holding my breath :D
