Even though I've been planning to sell my Explorer, I'm thinking of keeping it and going bigger, and also doing a gear swap to make it more driveable. Right now I have the f150 spacer/warrior shackle lift and 31x10.50 ProComp MT's on 15x8 589's.

If I added a 3" body lift, would I be able to fit 33's? What would be the best gearing for daily driving, 4.10's? Right now I have 3.27's with the 31's and they just suck. I do quite a bit of highway driving, I like to drive 75-80mph, so I need to have decent top-end power.

You could probably fit a mild tread 33. I mean something along the lines of BFGoodrich AT, MT. The width really matters more than the heigth. Wide tires hit the bottom rear corner of the front fender on explorers. A Super Swampers sizing is exact or a little more. So if you got a 33 inch Super Swamper, it would be closer to a BFG 35. Dont try to fit swampers with just a body lift. Since you do a lot of highway driving get 33in BFG AT KO's. Great tire for the dual sport offroader.

They will probally fit with mild trimming..I'd go 4.10 on the gears. If you are going to keep it, and speed the money for gearing...Ditch the spacers and shackles and get a suspension lift, you will be much happier..We are running next month if you would still like to join us. 33/12.5 BFG A/T's are wider than 33/12.5 TSL radial swampers.

You have a better chance fitting a TSL swamper radial than you would a BFG A/T or a Pro Comp M/T. Don't go any bigger than an 8" rim.

33/12.5 BFG has a 10" tread
33/12.5 TSL radial swamper has a 9.4" tread

You could get the new 33/9.5 BFG A/T or even the 10.5, but a 12.5 will be too big.

Take into consideration, that if any, the trimming would be little.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm gonna go ahead and try the 33x12.50 BFG M/T's. I have 15x8 Eagle 589's I'm going to mount them on. I've already ditched the factory rocker panel covers, a little trimming won't bother me. Heck, I just broke out a hammer and some sandpaper to do some "bodywork" on my rear hatch, I don't mind being rough on the truck ;)

mdrut, I'm going to run the 3" body lift just as a temporary lift until I can afford to have the 5.5" lift done. That project will probably come next summer. I don't have the resources to do the big lift myself, so I'll have to pay to have it installed. Then I will scrap the spacers/shackles, and maybe the body lift as well, or I might cut it down to 1.5" or 2". I doubt I'll be able to make a run next month, but what are the exact dates and where is it? I don't think I'll have the body lift and 33's so I don't know how well mine would do on the trails anyways. Let me know the dates though and I might see if I can swing it, maybe I can just play on the easy stuff and ride along on the tougher trails...
