I wonder what flare he used.

I went to a local TractorSupply last Saturday and saw some trailer flares that might work to cover up the extra width:

I know there are some fiberglass/plastic versions of this too but I think I'd rather weld the damn thing onto the body.

Hehe -- that F-350 side flare on the van just looks weird . Maybe it wouldnt look so bad if it was lowered, it may be that huge gap thats make it look so odd.

7.3L turbo diesel

Is this the same 7.3 that is in the Excursion?

If so how does it do. I am looking for a tow rig and thats what im looking at now.

you got it all wrong, you gotta go like this if you want 4 wheels in the back.


And Burns, 7.3 rocks. I got the best mileage out of an Excursion that was babied (all maintanences and filters done on time) and had another that I think was neglicted (oil ran low, needed a glow plug, injector and probably could have used a fuel filter) The power was good on both, jut one got better mileage. Like 19 vs 15.

I was thinking of that tandem setup. I saw an E-450 or E-550 over the weekend at the junk yard with that setup. I should take those axles and call it good.
