You might say I'm crazy but I had to try this. IMO Cherokee seats are a bit better than Exrplorer seats as far as firmness and "body hugging" factor. They are better shaped. Since I have two XJ's sitting right next to my Explorer in my back yard I have removed front seats from one of them and tried them in the "X" and guess what? they are almost direct replacement. Front bracket will have to be "adjusted" a bit but other than that they fit right in. Now, if I can only get my hands on a pair of electric, heated seats out of an "XJ" I might just swap them in and fit my old "X" seats in the back. BTW - seats that were "installed" in the "X" when I got it were only attached to the floor with two back screws - for some reason front brackets are way off... how could that be??? Mounting brackets should be the same throughout all the models... these look 1st generation...

Here ya go::: feast your eyes - center console fits right in as well... all I need to figure is how to install the seatbelt buckle.

I'd need to find four matching seats though... would like matching leather power seats... but I can make a bracket for the back and install existing "X" seats - power also...

I take it you have heard of 2nd gen seat swaps? Not to discount what you are trying but my 2nd gen seats are awsome.

I bet 2nd gen seats are way better but I just had those XJ seats sitting in my garage... and no seats in my "X" and nothing better to do so I just put them in to see if they fit. Next might be a Dana 30 front axle from that same XJ... will see how I can mount it up front although I wanted to get a full widht D44
;)

and might try an ARB front bumper from an XJ as well - to hell - there's got to be the way to make it work on my "X"

next? who knows?

those seas look good in your truck...with the red it looks kinda weird though.

Anything can be done with a little work and money. Welder, angle grinder, sawzall can do miracles. I had a nice bumper on my Sport once... and sold that truck - what an ass - and now I've got to start from scratch. I think I'm gonna dump those seats anyway - they stink - XJ was mice infested for a few years while it was sitting in a barn... mice piss is really hard to get rid of... Instead I'll go with a second generation leather bucket seats front and back or something like this:

allthough price is kind of steep at: $517.95 a pop...

buckets front and rear would be sweeet. Especially yhr second gen leather ones(maby try to go for heated leather????).

91 is the goofball year, all the seats from 92-2001 have the same bracketry from what i understand. Its just 91 they had to do something different.

so now it doesn't really matter which seats I put in... Jeep brackets work better with the mounting points on my truck... I'll be looking at those sport seats for sure... or simply four XJ leather seats... I have no problem with heated seats... I'll take them any time. But I'd rather install some with switch which can regulate how much heat I get up my rear end... The ones I have in my Mounty now just have an On/Off switch. Sometimes it's just way too much heat.
