These Hedman's look prommising

hed-88400_w.jpg

As do these summit truck headers

sum-g9037_w.jpg

but it looks like i'll have to unbolt the drivers side header to change my spark plugs on the hedman's. but it looks like the spark plug boots will be able to poke in there

after staring at my engine bay for a while I think the summit truck headers are the best option.

The drivers side collector has to have a steep down angle to clear the fire wall and the pass side isn't too forgiving either.

Happy Birthday To ME!

I wish i had gotten one of these

I also bought a Stull stainless tube steel grill. To make room for the radiator relocation but I don't have a pic.

I need some advice on a camshaft.

I'm looking at the e303 and the f303.

Please avoid the Ford letter cams, they have too much intake duration and not enough exhaust duration. Consult with a cam expert from at least a couple of the big camshaft makers. They will point you to better choices, but be honest with them about the real plans.

hey don, ever compared the front bumper mounting locations between the two generations of truck? there's a 2nd gen X at the yard, and i think it would update the hell out of my 1st gen. i didnt know, and i think your probably the most qualified to ask. lol

Skip the bumper idea, unless you really want it and can find a person to cut and reweld the frame horn. The different generations don't mount the same on the frame, you would have to swap that also.

First though, look carefully at the shape of the bumpers, the pre 95's have almost straight bumpers(side to side). The later bumpers are much more rounded, they come out a lot more in the center. A new bumper on the older body would protrude a good amount in the middle section. I also looked at them hard, trying to use my old 93 Limited bumper on my 99. You might do as well to find a 93/94 Limited bumper cover.

:chuckle:

Ok I'll stay away from the FMS stuff.

I guess thats my excuse to buy a lunati cam.

This is the part were the fun gets expensive. Just Lookin at the stuff I need to buy is makin my wallet thinner.

got pulled over for speeding today. First time.

I imagine it will happen more often when this engine gets dropped.

Well I called up lunati and they suggested a cam for me.

PN:510A1LUN

RPM range: idle-5000
Lift: .477/.477
Advertised duration:272/282
Duration at .050: 206/216
Lobe seperation angle: 112 degrees

From what I've learned about cams this sounds like a good daily driver.
Strong idle and plenty of vacuum.

I like those @0.050 numbers for a mild 302.

302 smackers though...ouch.

I would not ever pay that for an off the shelf(OTS) cam. A real custom cam is just over $300, $400 if you choose a billet core. The majority of cams are SADI cores, less strong. Buy a SADI cam for a short term project, they are not as strong, which is all of the letter cams BTW. Regards,

don who was it that ground your cam?

I agree the pricce is too high.

My cam and the complete heads came from Camshaft Innovations, Jay is the Ford cam man. He knows his stuff, if you contact him be honest with your plans. He needs the tech sheet filled out before he will begin talking with you or make a cam. There is a forum that is sponsored by him and the builder who did my engine, http://sbftech.com/index.php

trim parts stripped and sent to JTSmith.

Can't wait to pick em up!

holy crap.

Depending on how much this machining costs and how much my check is tomorrow.

I could have this engine ready in under three weeks!

Ok that may have been a slight over-estimation.
