My 96 came with just the plastic flare on the rocker panel.
I was cruising the junk yard yesterday and found a 97 with running boards the same color as I would need.
20 minutes and $30 later, they were mine.
They bolted up in factory holes in my explorer and all the clips that hold the plastic cover on matched up perfectly with the holes left after removing the flares. Didn't have to drill one hole.
