Turbo 4 Conversion, The Nasty Hoe Gets Blown!

progress?

Well...............................

No :(

Lori's Cobra R clone took some presidency over this, and I need to off load one of my vehicles to make way for some parts needed.

But don't you worry, I look at it every day and it hasn't slipped my feeble old mind that's forsure.

If I remember correctly, 410Fortune said he would make his way to TX sometime this year....LOL

p.s....I have a complete running `87 TC in my driveway, and a 1967 Mustang Coupe in the garage....my daughter and I are taking the TC drivetrain, and putting it into her `67....should be a cool project.

Hey Ryan, that would be a super cool conversion, please do a thread on it and stick it in the "Ford" section so we can watch the progress.

Well although I have been assing around on this project for some time, looks like I might be making some head way possibly.

I have been trying to sell my Turbo Coupe "Patches" for a few months now with absolutely no success, Sooooooooooooooooo.

Since there are a few key parts on "Patches" that I used, that will be needed to make the Turbo Navajo run, I'm figuring that I will dismantle the Turbo Coupe and put these parts into the Navajo and scrap the body of the TC.

I hate to hear of the TC getting parted out, but no doubt its for a worthy cause.

You may have said already, but any idea what the weight savings are going from the 4.0 to the turbo4?

100lbs off the nose, plus I shoved everything back about 5 inches.

Well, still pushing towards killing the TC, all I would need to make this mobile, is a fuel cell, fuel line.

Danny, yeah whatever

Awesome. The weight loss combined with moving the motor back should have killer front/rear weight bias. :)

Wheel stand... going into 2nd gear? That's a wild feeling, I had a ride like that in a 68 Bronco with a 351W in 1988. Poor u-joints.

Don, I'm not sure it's going to be that crazy, but you never know, making it move right now would be very nice forsure.

James, you need to PM me your phone number I wanna throw a few idea's across the table at you.

Dr. SVO phd

Do what it takes to make it run, it's easier to work on them that way.

My friend with the old Bronco was one of the first to build a 400W, I knew him after his Mustang days when he raced the 400W in it. His name was Bobby Colter which just came to me. I need to write that down while I remember his name, I forget easily.

Imagine building a 400W with OEM Windsor heads.

Ahhhh! hell

I guess I'm somewhat underway with this again, Johnstone and I just got back from Austin.

We went and picked up a fuel cell for the Navajo, guess I need to get some AN fittings, and fuel line.

I asked him when he was gonna come back over and help me tear apart "Patches" the Tubo Coupe for extra, spare, and storageble parts, plus I need the torque converter out of the transmission.

So, yeah looks like I'm gonna start back in to making some forward progress on this things, DAMN YOU ALL THAT WENT ON THE MOAB TRIP AND BROUGHT BACK PICTURES!!!!

You were missed;)

Thanx :P

It's been a tug-o-war about getting this damn ting going.

My $75 CL find, now to build a box to mount it under the floor, between the frame rails aft of the rear axle.

Hmmmm, new daily driver for me I am thinking. Then I can just drive over the idiots on the road in the mornings. ;)

i'm really glad you got back to work on it. i've been waiting a long time to read some progress on this thing. can't wait to see it completed.

Eh, sell those dual plane intakes to Chevy guys, or scrap them.

WOW! LOL

Please tell me how you really feel about these, LOL

Was gonna use the aftmkt Performer 289 for my vintage HSR race car.

I learned about 1.5 years ago that any open plenum intake will outperform the dual planes if the camshaft is custom designed for it and the heads. That's a hard myth to kill, but I'm a believer. It isn't cheap to put together a matched set of intake, heads, and cam, but it is the best way. If you ever want the most from an engine, contact Jay Allen and ask him to help select heads/intake for it, and to make the cam. Night,

Oh, my here we go again, picked up some 8AN fittings and some new bulkhead seals for the fuel cell..........

Well Johnstone and I went and picked up "Patches" today.

I'm about a day behind schedual for doing this as I had a shop FUBAR an alinement on my car which........well never mind.

So we got her back, I did a celebatory burnout in the street to signify that this would be her last time to do that :salute:, and rolled her in the garage for tomorrow, she will be nothing more than a pile of parts and a shell, much like the silver Turbo Coupe at the begining of this thread.

So here we go again, with more stuff and........................
