KOH Feb. 1-9 who is going?

..Today is the first day of the LCQ...60 drivers vying for 1 of ten spots...This will be a short course run which is almost totally covered by my above posted video "Pre-running King of the Hammers 2013"..:burnout:

..When scanning for KOH fm station 102.5 it will lock in but for now it hasn't been broadcasting..

..They announced in this mornings meeting that instead of one live cam on Hammertown, today they will be running 5 live cams...:biggthump

..In other news..

..Rumor has it there may be a flying Trophy Truck, another Trophy truck driver who pre run a couple of years ago is back to actually race, and there are rumors of several tranny failures and a couple t/c falures while out practicing the last couple of days..

..What Motorsports event would be complete without someone getting married in the back of a Ford pickup at the start and finish line?

P2040095.jpg

..Right after the ceremony the newlyweds stepped off the truck and over about 50' to eat their wedding cake so the "King of the Trimmers" could start..:D

..And for you R/C racers, they watered down the ultimate racing track and it's ready to go..

..There should be an old school stock Bronco showing up today to get ready to run in the stock class and time permitting I will get some pics and videos of them up as well..;)

..For those who are not watching live, a member from long ago known as "Hammer", Jeremy Hammer of Fly-N-Hi was the third up to qualify and he was flat out flyin thru the course...

..Due to poor video feed at the time we missed where he went thru the rock section and got a flat front tire...He was motoring on and about 3/4 thru his lap going down hill with a left turn about 1/4 mile from the flat track finish area he rolled his rig..

..I'll see if I could get a quick interview with him later on..

..Internet service is getting overloaded here and I'm sure you guys are seeing all the girls in the shorts and tank tops on the live broadcast..:D

..So until the big dogs show up at 4, I had to ruff it and take refuge in a tent with the Italian media team for Team Acerni..:D

..Since the internet is being worked on I can't post any videos for now but here are a couple random pics...

..A slightly modified Ranger in the Sexton tent...

..And Ben Swain, Driver of the Homegrown rig getting out of his truggy right after running his lap in today's LCQ...

..The internet is still iffy and they had stopped the race this afternoon saying the internet video feed was lost..

...It had rained early Sunday a.m. and I found some mud to play in Sunday night..Ever since then it's been cold (30ish in the mornings) and dry and warm during the day..As soon as the sun goes down you got the jackets on..

..About 4 o'clock this afternoon it went from gorgeous day to still, dusty, dust bowl..:fart:

..We have safety meeting at 7 and 7 so I'll try to update when I in between the events and stuff..;)

..Rumor has it Brian1 was right there when Hammer rolled and he got the, on the side, on the nose, and on the roof shots...Look for those pics in the future..

Update: Official Koozie Count

4 koozies = 2 RuffStuff and 2- Air-Raid

..Thanks Brian..:salute:

...Dave Cole warned us at last night's meeting to prepare for weather with wind gust up to 50 mph with a chance of rain and snow by or on Friday..

..The Big "W" showed up last night and looks like it will be blowing all day today..

..Here's a shot of ye olde camp compound this morning..

P2060314.jpg

..And here's a video this morning of Downtown Hammertown as the sun is coming up...You really don't get the effect of the sandblasting or the grit in the air but you can see it's windy...

..As Brian mentioned it has been real busy here and it only will get more chaotic from here on out...

..They have 17 drivers from yesterdays list added to today's list so Qualifying will be 2x2's (side by side starts) all day long starting at 10 a.m....

..Add in all the UTV's today also along with the wind and technical difficulties, it's going to be a "E" ticket ride..:D

..Dave...If you are coming out today post up if you could...We are thinking tonight is the best chance for the annual EF dinner and anyone else who wants to join in, let us know..

..Dave...If you are coming out today post up if you could...We are thinking tonight is the best chance for the annual EF dinner and anyone else who wants to join in, let us know..

Trying my best to get the Ranger done enough to drive up this afternoon. I'd at least like to make the happy hour runs.

..Got it...I will be half way up the hill during "Happy Hour" from downtown (toward the rock section) parked along the fence line and Brian should be in Harry's green truck in the same general area..:biggthump

..:shifty_ey ..Some more behind the scenes shots...

...The PG Night Life of downtown..

IMG_20130205_185515.jpg

..And the "Ladies Night" at the Miller welding tent was packed with all the ladies learning how to weld..This picture is just one corner of their huge welding tent..

IMG_20130205_185349.jpg

..I've added some links to the text of these following pictures..

..And for our German, French, and Australian members, we had media from Desert Foxx Overland Specialist and from Outback Import..:biggthump

P2060321.jpg

...and an impromptu meeting of BJ Baldwin in the fire suit and Jonathon Ramsey of Autoblog seated..;)

P2060317.jpg

..BJ's pit ride rockin' 39's...
IMG_20130206_085303.jpg

..It was BJ's first seat time in his truggy yesterday and he appears to be seeking out info from everyone he can...Just my .02 but I think he is a little intimidated with this years course and he should be...

..The big names and stockers are all struggling on the back rock sections practicing last couple of days and it seems like there will either be lot's of carnage or lot's of winching come race day...

..Well, we just had a big Endo at the tabletop near me so it's time to head back out to the field..:salute:

..Robbie Gordon arrived at 11 with 3 semi's and an RV..

..I've seen where he is suppose to park and there is know way he is getting there now..Where he is going to set up camp in itself is going to prove entertaining..

..One of the semi trucks is the Stadium truck hauler so we will see if he does do a jump out here or not this week..

..Stay tuned..

Nice find Dave! See you tomorrow?

Yeah, going to try again tomorrow. Had some steering issues to deal with or else I would've come out tonight.
Been watching the live feeds to get my fix for now.

..I am amazed at how you always find that stuff..:biggthump

...Yesterday the wind did die down and it became pleasant but by the afternoon the number of vehicles pulling in was non stop...

..at the end of the LCQ yesterday, Robby Gordon did put on a little show jumping the table top with the stadium truck...These trucks are smaller than a Ranger but larger than a trophy Kart and are built for inside stadium racing events similar to the Supercross series events..(Sorry, we were stuck up on the course so no pics)

..Today and tomorrow are going to be even more crazy so I'm not sure how much we will be able to update with the limited bandwidth we are sharing out here..

..They are having a press junket at noon today during the race which is to include the previous "Kings" and Robby Gordon..I will be covering that as well as the VIP dinner for "Save the Hammers hosted by GenRight this evening...Please take a moment and sign the petition...

..Racing starts at 8 a.m. today and don't forget to watch for the Scar Offroad BII #4686 as they will be starting 5th this morning in the Smittybilt Everyman's Challenge in the stock class..

Behind the scenes Exclusive..;)

..I received this from Charlene Bower of Bower Motorsports Media. This is an email quote from Jason Sherer to BMS right after he ran his lap..(He has the fastest qualifying time of 03:19.07)

That was super fun the rubicon express Nitto car is perfect for koh and we are ready for the race. We know the pace and the strategy we need to win now it's time to execute out game plan!

..Even though yesterday had a few fires, flip overs, and a bunch of guys were up on two wheels (bicycling), today promises to be even more exciting..:D

This just in...

Nitto tires just anounced two rings a year sponsorship...One for the king and one for series champion...

Todays press junket at noon has been changed to live online cpverage abput 3 or 4 today...

Team Gigglepin from the UK wins the Everyman Challenge...then get's DQ'd:( They were running full hydro steering and sticky tires which are both not allowed in either stock or stock mod class.

They took it all in stride though and were really racing just for fun. They have been battling mechanical issues all week so it's pretty amazing they even made the race. They will be racing tomorrow in the big show so it will be interesting to see how they do.

If you haven't heard of Gigglepin winches they look like the Warn 8274 on steroids. They slap 2 motors on that bad boy and it has over 400 ft. per min. line speed and 3 to 14 ton pulling power:eek:

...It's been a long day as I've been up since about 2:30 a.m. and now the meetings and Vip dinner is over so it's time to see what I can round up to upload from yesterday and today...

..If you guys are not getting the official times and such elsewhere, let me know and I'll post some links..:biggthump

..I started my day with someone snagging my radio off my dash early this morning over by backdoor, bought another radio, and stayed perched atop the big rock on Jack Hammer all day till they called the race...

...The BII had a rough day...They immediately followed some other teams off course up a hill then dropped off a double water fall breaking off their shocks and mounts before mile 3, drove for 30 miles or so without rear shocks then had them swapped and welded up at the remote pit then busted their fan shroud and started over heating about mile 50 before calling it a day..

...As for the Battlement Classic Bronco I saw them this morning and they were gettin with it but I never heard how the rest of the day went..:dunno:

..We've been told to expect high winds/ possible rain/snow tomorrow..It was perfect weather today and will probably be tomorrow too..:D

..There is an added new twist this year in the big race...There is an option..

..The drivers will pass by Back Door 3 times during the race...They have the option to climb Back door on any 1 of their 3 passes..

..Any questions you may have go ahead and ask tonight as I shall be online doing reviews of pics and videos while trying to re-charge all my stuff as our first meeting is at 6 a.m...
