Time to save for an Atlas or a STaK 3 speed. :D

Worst part bout the 4406 is if you lose that rear Driveshaft, it will puke all over the road, and your SOL.

On the other hand, JT beat on his 4406 pretty good with his 347 stroker, & high stall converter, and it held up well.

I would doubt you will have any drive train issues unless you really show it no mercy and keep hammering the crap out of it. Your going to find there's no possible good reason to step hard on the gas, except for putting a ear to ear grinn on your face.
Once she's set up and running great this summer, you might want to experement.

with that said don, i tried something tonight, you know just to see, and found my first weak link. its called traction! :D
so i wanted to show off evil a little tonight, and go for a ride as well to see if there was any behavioral changes. one of my buddys lives in a small town about 20 mins away. told him to jump in, and tell me where a flat, dry paved road is with no road sand on it. away we went. first, from a stand still, i nailed the throttle. she did the one tire on fire up to third. the whole time my buddy was laughing. i then said, i will lock it in, and do a small launch (2000 rpm) to show how much grunt it has out of the hole now.
i have only heard of one other truck doing this. keep in mind, yea, even though i have my winter tires on, they arent the greatest thing (all season, but they are new, and where free). so i stall it up, and launch. this thing jumps up, kicks us both back, with two chirps, yes from the tires, bounces once, and hauls ass outta there! i wished i could see the look on my face when that happened. hell, even my buddy damn near crapped himself. i guess i have defiantly solve my low end torque problem i was having.

If no video it Didnt Happen.....

Just Kidding Tim, that is awesome!!! Vids Soon??

I volunteer to take video!

On a side note Tim, did you get the dimmer working on your gauges? I'm still looking for a lazy way to get a a wire that goes 12v when the park lights come on.

Don, if you have nothing planed today, we may just have to do that! As for the dimmer, no, haven't touched it yet. Don't want to ask joe for the shop right now unless its a emergency. I can, and will do that when it get warmer outside, and I start to nitpick it.

sorry don, couldnt wait :D

launch in 4x4 (you can sorta hear the tires scrub when it takes off)

had to do it fast, there was a car coming, and i didnt have much time

and what its like to be driven over

Those are fantastic!
How's the camera?

Nice!!!

Wow Tim, I can't believe I missed this whole build up (but then I wasn't looking either)! Nice job it really looks nice. That whine sounds familiar ;). That 4406 will be fine with the supercharger and a shift kit. Mine has been holding up fine through the abuse that I've thrown at it. I just don't do real hard launchs like that in 4WD because I'm mostly scared of breaking one of the front half shafts or the front carrier. If you have any outstanding questions on that set up let me know, I'm sure I have an answer.

the only one problem i have with it at the moment is it almost feels like the throttle cable binds a teeny bit when you first step on the gas. i am almost sure its the little cable holder on top of the supercharger that stops the cables from laying on the pulley.
that and i drove it to the city last night (20 mins away) and the boost gauge is reading 5-6 lbs of boost. i may pick up another one, as i still dont have 100% confidence in it. when i first got it (used) it would read vacuum without it being hooked up. on of the mount bolts on it was also loose, and would flop around, and would touch the diaphragm, so it may be bad. i have had to take it out twice, and each time i do, i have to mess with it to read zero when the motor is off

When I bought my kit used I didn't get the cable retainer with it. In this picture you can see what I did. I used a cable loom clamp and flattened it a little to do the same job (in the picture it isn't flattened any). Mine is very touchy when you first step on the pedal as well but in my case I don't think it is the cable binding. I put a throttle body on it made for an 80s mustang too though and modified the pull on the throttle body.

I have a spare boost gauge laying around that has the vaccum line attached to it. It reads zero just sitting not attached to anything. It just has a normal 194 back light with a white face though. You can have it if you want to pay shipping for it. The reason I didn't use it is because I bought one of those electronic Ford Racing ones.

looking at that pic, i can see your cables have a lot more room to move around then mine do. they can wiggle around, but not much after that. two other things i notice, is you have more room on your intake pipe as well. mine is resting on the rad hose, but so did the stocker. it also looks like you have a different upper rad hose as well.
the boost gauge you have is a white face? sure, if you dont mind me paying for shipping, i will try it out. i think the fittings that screw into the gauges should be the same. the crush sleeve was not fun to get on that vacuum line, thats for sure.
lastly, i think i was reading in your thread the wires you have are accures? i think? how are they. when i was doing the wires on mine, one or two had scorch marks on them. i would like to replace them with some better ones other then factory.
and yes, i also want to get rid of the stock trottlebody as well. but, i will also want to redo the elbow for it. it chokes the air off. baby steps right now. the main goal for me was to get it up and running, then dig back in, and replace the stuff i dont like, or want.

Ok, no probelm. The gauge is yours then.

I played around with the intake pipe some more since that picture too and I ended up making a custom bracket to hold it in just the right place so it didn't rub on the hood or the radiator hose. That radiator hose I have on there I got from the dealer for a 97 explorer (year of my donor truck).

My wires are the Aurora Ignition Wires brand. CDW6212R recommended them to me. I bought the ones designed for a 96 explorer and bascially routed them the best way I saw they would fit. I suggestion on them though is to definitely insulate them off of anything steel or aluminum. I had a couple that would short out when they got hot. Overall very durable, I can't believe how much heat they can take and still be fine!

If/ when you do something different with your intake elbow you will have to let me know what you do. I ported and polished the stock elbow for now. I opened up the inlet of the elbow to match the new 75mm TB and opened up the supercharger end some too.

At least two people have custom made a new elbow by welding the EGR portion to an aluminum pipe. I forgot who has done that.

I have the Magnecor wires, and I don't think the Aurora brand was known of back then. Now they both come in black, and I'd choose one of those brands.

I am impressed with the results from the little Eaton blowers from EE. I may end up trying to get one of those, but I still hope for a bigger answer. I've been eying the space where the coolant/wiper bottle are, wondering if a turbo might fit in that space. I think I'll remove those and the cruise control, to measure that. If the height might be enough for an air inlet pipe to go over a turbo to the back(cold side), maybe it could work. The space for a down pipe around the AC box, and under the AC compressor for a left pipe to go around the front, those would be the next bottlenecks. If that could work, I'd do that. I need outside dimensions for a turbo that could make 15psi max for a stroker.

as for a bracket, i am thinking of making some sort of hook that would go on one of the hose clamps, and bolt to the alt. that way it can move with the motor, and not be anchored to the body, and the motor trying to pull it away when it torques over.

as for the blower, i know. you wouldnt think (or i didnt) something so small (so cute!) for a blower would make that much of a difference. when i talked to dave at EE when i was trying to get the brackets, he did say he has some left over. not sure about the plenum however, but he might. the other problem is, one from a thunderbird sc wount really work. the snout is way to long. however, i could have sworn i saw a m90 for a jag on ebay once, that looked like it would work. looked to be the correct size, you would just have to mill the pull side of the snout down for the support bracket.
spas's supercharger kit (bd-11a) came with a smaller tank. when i was there, i thumbed threw the instructions, and it said to saw off the the rad overflow part, and use the supplied tank. i swear it had a ford part number on it, and i even had it in my hand, but that was 6 months ago (and at that time i was trying to figure out how to get all of it out of the garage without her knowing! just kidding linds!)

so you could gain space for a turbo.

Tim posts: "baby steps right now. the main goal for me was to get it up and running, then dig back in, and replace the stuff i dont like, or want. "

Yeah RIGHT! Puts a V8 in a Sport, then a SUPERCHARGER...

I spent a whole day trying to get a cheap ebay intake to fit/work with the K&N FilterCharger and Bodylift... That would qualify as baby steps!
