I think the 2nd gen 2 door sport models and sport trac models don’t get enough love. Far too often are they overlooked for standard 4 door models old and new. Let’s show them a little love!!

I always say I prefer my vehicles with two doors and three pedals. Here's my forever work in progress, '00 Sport:

Two doors and three pedals haha. Wish I coulda got a manual for mine. At the very least with these bad boys, automatics have a better spec sheet than the manual models.
As far as I know, the main spec sheet limitation to the manuals was that from '95 to '00 the 4.0 OHV was the only engine option. Personally, I'd rather be stuck with an OHV in front of an M5R1 than be stuck with a 5R55E behind a SOHC during those model years. The SOHC in my '97 easily outlived two 5R55E transmissions.

From '01 to '05 you could get a manual behind a 4.0 SOHC -- I'd love one of those.

There are plenty of manual, 4x4, 4.10-geared Sports out there though -- they weren't all bare bones base models! Check out the short-lived Expedition trim: leather, upgraded stereo, etc.

oughta throw one of those superchargers like donalds has on the sport (or the navajo...) that sounds like it'd be a blast to drive!!!! SOHC power +supercharger+ it being stick... massive fun!!!!

Navajo has a SOHC swap.

@97Sandbox Since you have one of each, how much longer is the 2 door sport door longer than the 4 door front door?

I have a shortened Sport idea brewing. Shorten the Sport 8.5" to use the front doors off of a 4-door explorer. That would get the wheelbase down to almost as short as the original Bronco. Just an idea. No truck, Sawsall, or twelve pack involved at this point, lol.

The doors are different shapes. Two-door doors are pretty much square, but four-door doors have a slope along the back edge.

Oh, ok. The idea was kind of a quick one with a quick death. Thanks for measuring. I'm on the lookout for a '97 Sport. If anyone nears me sees one for sale. not running or not pulling would be just fine. (5.0 project).

I'm not seeing any more Broco IIs laying around these parts. The solid ones have been snapped up and the junk ones get shredded pretty fast.
OP, forgive me for stepping on your thread.

You gonna hide that pcm? I hear the escape has a pcm “box” that can be used to weatherproof it

I Love how you trimmed the sohc engine cover lol lol not much of it left!

We have a few sport tracs around here

My current wip is a 03, 5.0, 5 speed, manual t case Adrenalin wannabe I love this thing 257k miles and counting
