Help! Will any of these rims fit my explorer?

Okay, I have a '99 4.0, 4x4. I really want to avoid using spacers, at least at first, so I need to find wheels that will fit without them, but without rubbing on the ball joint. I have heard it will rub on the sway bar no matter what? is that true? I've been reading about it and I found a set...

Advice for engine swap 4.0 to 5.0

OK, I might be taking a small bit of my retirement plan to pay for this, but need to get the truck fixed and want to do a few things. I've got: 1996 Ex XLT 4 dr, 4.0 L, Auto, 4x4. I've got a few problems, and one might be either a valve issue or could be as simple as a bad coil...

    Keeper's Explorer. Take two.

Welcome to my new registry. This is my 2000 Explorer XLT. Bought it from the original owner for $3,400. Came with the owners manual, and the paper work to prove it's been dealer maintained. When I purchased the Ex, it had 111,000 on the odometer, a small tear in the leather of the drivers seat...

    3rd Gen Spindles on a 2nd Gen (4x4)

Does anybody know if the 3rd gen front spindles can be used on a 2nd gen explorer? (both 4x4) The reason I'm asking is that the later ones are aluminum, whereas the 2nd gens are heavy cast iron. I definitely don't do any off-roading, so strength isn't an issue. Mainly, is the geometery...

Best year Explorer for towing or should I just get an Expedition?

I'm thinking about buying an SUV for towing and people/stuff hauling. It won't be a daily driver (I hope) and I estimate I'll put 7000 miles/year or less on it. The main towing usage will be for a two-axle open car trailer with up to a 4000 lb car on it or an enclosed trailer that's around 12...
