The tubes were eliminated / bypassed- seems to run really well. I didn't drive it much at all for 2-3 weeks, so its hard to seat of the pants compare it.

I also cut the tab that I bent down on the back of the coil pack bracket as well as the tab that comes off the throttle cable bracket and bolts to the coil pack bracket. Who needs 4 bolts holding the coil pack bracket? Thats crazy!

A note on the install: I had the opportunity to remove the upper again and reinstall it. :banghead: I did the tip I suggested about gluing the gaskets to the spacer. That along with the 1/2" length of hose split on the back bolts worked really well compared to trying to line up all that stuff without any sealant. I wish I had done it the first time.

Do you happen to have a part number for this??? I just ordered the torquemonsters and want to install this spacer at the same time.

My spacer kit came with all the correct bolts. It was TFS-51520018 at summit racing. The only difference between the cobra and GT-40 kits are those 2 bolts.

That part number you won't need extra bolts.

Thanks ordered it today cant wait to get it installed!!!!!!

Well, I have noticed a problem, don't know for certain if the bypassing of the coolant caused it or not, but under similar driving conditions as before, my mileage is down 2-3 MPG. I may reconnect the hoses and see if it changes anything. The manifold is certainly cooler, I can lay my hand on it after driving for extended times, it just barely is warm. Maybe there is a reason they ran coolant through there??

Notice a difference yet?

I reconnected the hoses tonight, drove about 60 miles. With the CAI and the hoses, Wow. Throttle response is amazing, I can hit 70-75 in no time without flooring it. Gas mileage results, don't know yet, need to fill up in a few more miles. Need to keep my foot out of it though :D

Any new discoveries on the coolant lines?????? I have mine disconnected as well but I did it right off the bat when installing the tourquemonsters and spacer so I have nothing to compare it to.

Well, it appears my mileage has improved, I haven't bought fuel yet, but I am at 140 miles and not quite to half a tank, which is pretty darn good for mine. I will get gas soon, I will check my mileage and report back. I am going to guess it has helped though.

Well, I got gas today at 1/2 tank. 161.9 miles on the trip odometer, I got 10.41 gallons of gas. Not awesome gas mileage, but this was nearly all "city" driving short trips, occasional romps on the throttle. :D Its a vast improvement over the 14 MPG I got while driving to and from St. Louis and better than I have been getting around town. If I can ever learn to keep my foot out of it, it would be better. I also suspect winter blend gas has something to do with it.

I think the hoses have an impact on mileage, I will leave mine connected from now on.

Thanks I'm going to hook mine back up today. I will post if I get better gas mileage as well.

I am glad I was "smart" enough to not put clamps on the loop of hose I put on the upper- it would have been a pain to remove it. It was a bit challenging to reinstall the hoses anyhow, worth the effort though, IMO.

Eric, did you leave your hoses when you put your headers on?

I'm almost certain they are connected on his. :D

Yeah, they're connected, my problem is my trip to work is only 2 miles each way, so it's just getting warmed up by the time I get to work. I just got 12.6 when I filled up tonight, but that was mostly longer trips across town. And my lead foot doesn't help at all. I'm sure it's only going to get worse though with the new tires, I'm going up to a 265/70 or 75/16.

Overall, does the 1" spacer effect gas mileage? Negatively or positively.

I'd say it would help, never hurt, unless you can't get your foot off the floorboard. It's hard to say definitively what gains it made because I was changing so many things at the time of the install.

I'd say properly installed, the spacer will help with mileage.
