Most stores carry a Lucas brand limited slip additive
It helps prevent the fluid from foaming
It works great with or without a limited slip traction device

Gale banks (I watch a lot of Gale banks videos) has some excellent information on the web about what happens inside a rear differential and why the additive is always a good idea

Gale banks is a genius. Ford has the limited slip additive too. I usually get a couple bottles of that and Valvoline synthetic 75 140

Like he said
Additive first otherwise you run out of room

Most full synthetic gear Lube includes an anti foaming agent… but I still add the limited Slip stuff for good measure

Nothing major today, just did upgrade to headlights. Maybe I'm just putting off getting under the truck because it seems to get harder to get up off the floor.

Before:

6 8mm screws (2 screws and 4 bolts actually) to remove the top cover...

one screw for each turn signal then pull out the turn signal, be careful not to damage the 2 slide posts... disconnect bulb, it twists out.

there are 2 slides for each headlamp assembly, that pull up that hold the headlamp assembly in. You can use a pry bar to assist you if they don't pull up with your finger. Incidentally, you would do this process to replace your headlamp bulb. Disconnect the connector from the headlamp bulb and the assembly pulls out.

Install is just reversed. Step back and enjoy your new lights. Don't forget to align them. I did count the threads which actually matched the new ones, but they do look like they might be high.

I also noticed that plastic cowl was gathering water, so I grabbed a drill with a 1/4" bit and drilled a hole at each wiper arm area to drain the water that pools there. I got this idea from another forum.

These are the headlamps, these ones come with new bulbs as well. The others are just housings.

Maybe I'm just putting off getting under the truck because it seems to get harder to get up off the floor.
That's a valid concern! I crawled under my truck and back out so many times when I replaced the fuel pump and filter in June that I started having dizzy spells when I'd stand up or lie down. Several times I had to put my hand on the truck to keep from falling. It's mostly, but not completely cleared up. It's one reason I haven't fixed my dash lights. I don't want to contort myself as is necessary to get to the screws for the hood release.

Vertigo is a real thing! It really sucks to get because it makes it dangerous near impossible to work on cars and especially under dashes

I had a bad fight with vertigo, turns out I had a piece of compacted wax the size of a grain of rice on my ear drum.
Two doctors couldn’t help me… they kept referring me to somebody else… I’m like lady I can barely get to the car to get here my wife has to drive me and I was throwing up like every time I moved . I ended up getting a small camera and scoop off Amazon that allowed me to look inside my own ear… I finally found the wax, as soon as I touched it with the little scooper my whole
Body shook. I knew that was the cause.. I was able to remove it and instant relief
It has come back a time or two. It can be blood pressure related and COVID made it worse. But worth looking at your inner ear if it is a persistent issue

Those new adrenaline lights look proper with the red!!!

My next sport trax upgrade is the rear camera, our tailgate shares a handle with a f150 flare side so the aftermarket makes a handle for us with integrated camera. I’ve had one new in box for a year now? About time I install that bad boy

When you drilled the holes can you show us where you drilled them? Did you coat the bare metal with some paint?

Regarding vertigo and ear problems, I've had ringing in my left ear since a bad ear infection over 50 yrs ago. Suddenly got louder in Dec '23 when I had a sinus infection. Mentioned it at my annual checkup a year ago. Dr said my eustatian tube was completely collapsed, and referred me to an ENT. They gave me a hearing test and recommended a hearing aid. Said the ringing was due to hearing loss, and never even looked in my ear. Didn't want to hear anything I had to say. I've had the ringing for 50+ yrs, and my hearing has been excellent, despite many reasons it shouldn't have been, until my eustatian tube collapsed. Tinnitus and hearing loss are not always related.
My eustatian tube has opened up some, and my hearing is better. Doesn't have anything to do with vertigo, tho. At my checkup last week, my Dr said there are stones in a round chamber in the inner ear that help with balance, etc, and if they aren't where they should be, it can cause dizziness and vertigo. She thinks that's my problem, but she's just guessing. I also feel like I have water in my ear at times. Given my experience at the ENT last year, I don't care to go back.

So the crystals in your inner ear when they get dislodged from the fluid they are suspended in can really mess with your equilibrium! There is a maneuver you can do to help drop them back in where they belong

Eply maneuver

It worked a little bit for me
The doctor that tried to help me with my vertigo initially told me about it and how to do it, except she had me turning to the incorrect side
After I leaned to do it properly it was a bit helpful…
Of course they still charge me $500 for the visit

Post #92, pg. 5 is the start of the tailgate camera. Post #109, pg. 6 shows sort of the locations of the holes. For the inside brace I used a long punch to make a hole (I didn't have a long bit), and the bottom of the tailgate is right above the drain on the left side of the tailgate.

In the 3rd picture you can get an idea where I drilled and punched the holes from the piece of flooring I had on hand. A metal coat hanger would do the same thing. Taped the wires to it and pulled them through. The inside of the tailgate I did not put any paint on it. but the bottom hole I drilled, I sprayed a puddle of primer on some cardboard and took a q-tip and coated the hole before putting a grommet on it.

I did put tape around the wire/camera cable to prevent chaffing on the inside hole.

and the grommet on the bottom.

And used sticky backs to hold the cable in place before going into the bedside.

Cables followed the inside of the frame to the cab. There I drilled another hole near the rear body mount and installed a grommet for the wires going into the cab.

The hole next to the access hole for the mount was already there and fed wires/cable through that to the front of the cab for the radio screen.

On a side note: on the very first post I have a running list of all the mods/upgrades/repairs with post #s for quick reference. You just have to find the right page.
