2005 Sport Trac intermittent turn signal failure

I have a intermittent turn signal problem affecting both left and right turn signals. If I am on a routine trip the turn signal may work a couple of times, every time, or not at all. It may flash only two or three times at a turn and quit, not at flash at all, or flash normally. Signal seem to actuate and terminate normally. Malfunction doesn't seem to be weather or road condition related. Tilting the steering wheel doesn't seem to make malfunction better or worse. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds to me like the flasher is failing

Flasher module (relay) or multifunction switch when it acts up press on the flashers and see if they operate normally that will eliminate the flasher module ( relay)
