2011 Ford Explorer Transmission Problems?

Did they give you a free rental vehicle to use during this time?

They gave me a 2010 Flex, Limited.

The dealership has been very accommodating. The service manager came to my house with the flex and took my Explorer, etc. He calls me daily with updates. However he can only do what Ford tells him to, and that's delaying everything.

Also, I got the explorer to tow my boat... the Flex don't tow.

My Broken Explorer Update.

I was informed my my service manager yesterday that Ford refuses to replace my transmission, so my explorer is being sent to a transmission shop to have it torn apart and repaired.... Its not my problem that it is bad. why should i pay for a new vehicle with a repaired transmission!

I'm not happy!

Wow. I'd tell them to keep it after I got done telling them to shove it.

A private repair shop might not be familiar with the new transmission, so tell them that it's not acceptable unless the shop gives you a written guarantee that's as long as the original OEM transmission's warranty.

I feel your pain, I've had multiple issues with my Explorer since getting it 12/23. Seat recall (that still makes a rattling noise that it didn't when I took it in), MFT issues (waiting to get the 2.8 update), A-pillar noise, what I assume is the transmission (at a stop, I put my foot on the gas and it felt like someone rear-ended me), and then twice in the past week it's sounded like something crunched in my passenger side rear wheel and had a slight drag when driving. I think it's a beautiful vehicle, but I'm not sure what Ford thinks people should do with so many issues when they've spent A LOT of money on the Explorer. VERY frustrating!!!!! At least your service place is calling you back and trying to help....mine gave me a smokey Focus after giving a Nissan Versa the first time.

HELP CORY!

This thread is scaring me :(

Nothing to be scared of. There are always stories like this with any vehicle. You know how many parts are on a moving vehicle? Me neither. Don't have your dealership talk to Ford, YOU talk to Ford. If you don't get the answers you want then tell them your going viral with the issue. Place a video on youtube showing the service your getting from Ford. Tell the world how much Ford is backing their new Ford Explorer. Make sure you name your Video 2011 Ford Explorer and tell them you are going to do this. They will change their tune. Just like the Durango that caught on fire. You know how many hits that got. Not good. If they say you can't do something like that tell them to go eat a bag of Dicks. You have to be forceful with the low level monkey. He'll try to screw you everytime. I had a couple of conversations with "Consumer Reps". They didn't give the right answers so I let them have it. I got my way in the end. Go viral my friend.

New Transmission

My service manager gave me word today that he got permission from Ford and ordered a new transmission for my explorer today. :)

Good to hear. Hopefully that will take care of things for you. I was starting to get a bit concerned about Ford's response, but in the end it worked out (sort of).

When you pm the Ford service reps ,Seni or Cory, they are able to have a customer care rep asigned to your case. They will stay with you until your issues are corrected.
I know for a fact, that Ford will want this transmission to tear down and find the problems,it is part of their quality program. They do not want this to happen again. It will end up at the Van Dyke plant where it was built. When they find the problem, they will check their process to see how it left the plant flawed.Transmission plants, might be Ford, but they sell their product to Chicago Assembly and assembly plants are not happy about quality issues.

I'm glad your dealer gave you good news. Please let me know if you run into any other issues.

Thank you for the recommendation GTMD.

Explorer209, like chimoman said, there's nothing to be scared of. I want to make sure you are happy with your purchase, so please message me with anything you're worried about.

rbell, if you didn't see my post earlier in the thread, please send me a private message with your VIN, dealer name, and approximate mileage, then I can help by escalating your concerns.

Thanks, Cory! One of your people already responded to me and I should be hearing back from them today with an update to my situation. I appreciate the hard work you and your team do to help us out.

I'm really glad Natasha was able to escalate your case. Like I said, we're really here to make sure you are happy with your Explorer. Please don't hesistate to send another message if you have any other issues / concerns.

I was told there was a transmission update that's hot off the presses, so check with your dealership if you're still having issues. Also, a "major" MFT update is coming next month.....at least this is what I'm being told.

Having a Ford Customer Care person escalate your issues really gets you better service. Too bad these dealerships aren't doing it without a little extra pushing.

Can you elaborate on: I was told there was a transmission update that's hot off the presses

I've got to take my X in for multiple things, but one of them is a transmission issue. When I was on the phone with the dealership today, they told me that there is an update that just came out for transmission problems. He didn't elaborate too much, but there is a replacement of a part and computer update from my understanding.
